Infinitely worse than ink, imo. Don't see how things could ever be reversed.

I always think that pretty much the only hope at this point for people who do that is to just cut off the part of the ear that goes around the lower part of the gauge because it's not ever gonna look right again

They don't really shrink back that much. People have to get the lower part of the ear removed or it hangs down. Best case is it looks like they have no ear lobes after the surgery.
