Houston Zoo is atrocious for parking. I only ever go during the day on weekdays. Otherwise forget it.

Be there when it opens. My suggestion would be to get there early, like 4ish and take the kids on train, go to park, and that way you will already have parking spot, and then make sure to be in line when it opens.

If this is something that, going into, you're unsure of... I can't imagine how slowly life moves for you.

Went a couple weeks ago and it was not worth it. Granted I didnt have kids, but the GF wanted to go. Kids may enjoy it. Def get your tix online in advance. Line to buy tix is a mile long and if you already have tix you just walk in. There was even employees walking down the long arse line telling people to buy their tix online right then. Most just stared at him and continued to wait. Lol. Only animals we were able to see was Giraffes through the windows of their house.

I'm a big Houston Zoo supporter; but I have to say, Zoo Lights is pretty disappointing.

OP, if you are going to get goat roped into looking at silly lights, just keep on driving to College Station and go to Santas Wonderland.

At least then you can wait in line like you are a cattle and actually see something decent.

I'd recommend checking out the Prestonwood Forest neighborhood for their Christmas lights. The entire neighborhood participates and each street does a different theme. It's pretty cool.

Went to Houston zoo lights last night. Got there at 5:15 and parked near entrance. Left at 8:30pm and line to get in was thousands deep and parking miles away. It was well done. Didn't see many animals but didn't expect to, but saw longhorns, rhinos and giraffes. I know many on here beat off to BTR zoo but this blows it out of the water.

You'll see many people born in Louisiana now living in Houston
