They're classics and not some neon orange bugatti that looks like a futuristic spaceship.

Hardly:

but the woodlands tends to be much more new money than say river oaks. Those people like to show it off. But there are some people in River oaks that like to show off their cars like Tracy Krohn with all his Ferraris.

River Oaks is more old money. They aren't as much into Ferraris and flash. They like their Land Cruisers. Understated, hella expensive, and invincible.

They aren't that expensive. When a LTZ Tahoe is going to put you back ~70k, the Land Cruiser's price tag of 84k isn't exactly putting it head and shoulders above what half the soccer mom's are driving. And I see ton's of Land Cruisers in the new money areas too. It isn't about new or old money. It's about the personality of who has the money. I know plenty of new money people who drive regular vehicles, and then have a business partner driving a Bently. If you are a flashy person, you are going to buy that type of stuff. Personally, I wouldn't say I'm above wanting a nice vehicle, but a super car does nothing for me. Now that Land Cruiser is pretty sweet. A few more raises and I may have to get me one

True.

I guess you're right. I'd be a lot more nervous to drive that Ferrari on the roads than a spanking new Bugatti fa sho.

I wouldn't say I'm a flashy person but I'd buy the absolute frick out of some cars if I had a lot of money.

I drove through River Oaks on Kirby a few weeks ago with a couple folks who had never been to Houston before.

They thought the houses were magnificent but didn't understand why a bunch of the houses had mini vans or 5-6 year old Hondas parked in the front in the circle drives, not knowing that the help parks out front

More than anything, I'd want a badass sedan and SUV that have spacious back seats so I can sit back there while my driver takes me around.

And I'd spend more money on traveling and houses abroad than cars I think.

ETA:

And clothes...I would have the flyest fricking clothes. Handmade italian suits, everything I own tailored for me, even boxers (besides maybe t-shirts), beautiful dress shoes, etc.

Oh, and Houston is 4x bigger than Atlanta.

Which is why you don't see them as often as you do in Buckhead. Houston is too spread out.

When looking at it as a percentage of total vehicles purchased Georgia has a higher % of luxury vehicles than Texas. This is what I'm talking about when I say Buckhead blows it away. The supercars are abundant in a very concentrated area.

I never claimed that Atlanta had a higher total dollar net worth than Houston. That would be ludicrous.

There's a place in the Woodlands where you can rent them for a certain amount of time. Expensive of course, but the cars are expensive.

And it's gotten better with the downturn in O&G?

There was quite the massive upturn before that downturn. Dallas and Austin aren't really reliant on Oil and Gas either. Also the difference in 6th and 8th is apparently blown away in your mind

If I had a billion dollars, I would buy cars too.

But not "new money" supercars that any idiot can buy.

I would buy vintage collectable cars that have style, history, and prestige.

Think like this:

1. 1960's Shelby Cobra.
2. 1964 Aston Martin DB5.
3. 1967 427 Corvette Stingray.
4. 1963 300SL Gullwing Mercedes.
5. 1959 BMW 507
6. 1949 Cadillac Series 62
7. 1964 Ferrari 250 GTO

etc.

I could talk on this topic all day.

Supercars are a yawner. Give me style from yesterdays..

I made a very specific claim about how frequently you'd see exotic cars in an area. You're the one that got their panties in a wad because you can't believe that Houston isn't the best at everything.

Regardless, neither city holds a candle to places like Monaco.
