pro for Houston is closer to BR, and south LA. Houston is pretty nice if you live in the burbs. As far as DFW, Weatherford area is just the tits..

2nd time in N Texas... The weather sucks... maybe worse than Houston because the Winters are colder.

Everything else is great. DFW is a great place for opportunity, raising a family and having your kids find opportunities.

I like Houston Ok too though. Comes down to your preference. Both have pros and cons.

I deeply apologize if my comments offend anyone.

If your looking for more of a Louisiana feel then Houston will be the place for you. There is a large portion of Louisiana natives in Houston and Cajun restaurants on just about every street corner.

You will find no state income tax in TX. Car insurance is 1/2. Electric is cheaper due to deregulation yes it is a pain to constantly shop around buy you have your choice of 64 providers and 314 different plans. My electric bill for October was $35.30 and gas bill was $25.11. No tax on groceries either.

You will find more bang for your buck housing wise in Houston. Housing construction costs cheaper and house insurance cheaper as well.

You will find amazing public schools in Dallas and Houston. Only 2.6% of the population send their children to private vs 26.4% in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Yes, you will have higher property taxes, but the no state income tax offsets that.

4 of the top 10 rapidly grocities in the country are in TX.
165 new people each day are moving to Houston, many from Louisiana.

I'll handle this.

I lived in Houston for 9 years and have been in DFW for 18, Dallas is much nicer and easier.

Houston has no zoning so you have a neighborhood full of $500,000 homes next to a shitty apartment complex and several liquor stores.

DFW seems smaller and easier to get around.

Collin County (North Dallas) is the top place to live in the US. Plano, Frisco, McKinney

100's of companies moving here from all over the US including State Farm, Toyota, Bank of America etc etc etc

Great schools, affordable housing, no crime

Houston for sure. There are plenty of opportunities to stay there your entire career, and it really isn't that far from LA. My family is in SELA. Dallas is just too far, and to me, it seems like a much bigger city than Houston. There are a lot of people from here that now live in Houston. Maybe 1/4 of my friends moved there after college

Houston (home) is more old school but great for big businesses and cooperation. A huge melting pot. Houston is BIG though, take almost an hour and some change to get to the other side of the city.

Dallas is new and younger. Big companies and a bit flashy at times. But good in terms of something new and fresh. Not as much of a melting pot imo, but you'll find your share of people here.

Personally I'd prefer Houston but I have some bias to that seeing how i'm from H-Town. I can tell you houston is definitely warmer than Dallas during the winter times.
