What would be pros and cons of both? Would still be coming back to LA frequently due to family. Which has a better overall future?

DFW. No hurricanes, no widespread flooding.

Completely dependent on what you do, but a lot more corporate headquarters in Dallas than Houston.

One is much closer to S Louisiana and the other is much closer to N Louisiana.

You worded your question poorly and this will be a pissing match by post 16.

The main question is, would relocating to either be a good move and increase chances for success? Staying in Louisiana just doesn’t sound good for the long haul.

I definitely prefer DFW but Houston seems to have a lot of opportunities as well. Are the two cities a lot alike in that regard?

Where is your family in LA and what industry do you plan on working in?

I’m considering rolling the dice and just relocating then hope it works out. Being in La isn’t helping my chances at all.

Houston is like 2 hours closer and is more centered around O&G and energy than Dallas is. As I'm sure you know, though, it can be a bumpy ride.

I suppose you're in some type of field services world. On the design side a big project can take about 4 years to design and permit, thus resilient to fluctuations in the market.

Fort Worth

Id love to live there, but there are way less jobs there and it's a much more "connected" town.

I just have oil and gas clients and their Capex definitely isn't immune to fluctuations. You may not get fired, but theres definitely less projects going on. I was looking at some 2015 stuff today and they definitely cut back spending that year.
