Sounds like a hit, but fleeing on a bike is about the least professional thing I could think of so it was probably just a robbery.

From the article that you didn't read: Police say that a suspect on a bicycle fatally shot the doctor and then fled the scene.
I'm thinking examine recent cases of patients of his that died, make a list of surviving family members and there's your list of suspects.
