Houston Area Housing Location Advice

Houston guys I will be moving to the Houston area for work in a few weeks. I have an issue though. I will be working in Katy for the first 4-6 months, then I will be onsite in Bay port/Pasadena for an extended amount of time. I work in industrial construction. I was hoping I wouldn't have to move twice, but those areas are completely opposite from each other.
Is there an area I can move to accommodate both areas without having a long commute OR
Should I get a short term lease around Katy or in West Houston so I can be close to the city for awhile then move closer into Pasadena?
I am 25 and single so being closer in to the city would be nice, but it doesn't seem practical for daily commuting.

Heights or Oak Forest. Plenty of young people, lots of bars and restaurants, and centrally located.

You’re kinda screwed no matter what.
Ask yourself: would I rather live close to work and not commute, or live in a spot that’s great for people my age and the activities I enjoy?

This. Commute won’t be great but I’ve heard it’s fairly manageable to the Pasadena area. It may suck hard for 4-6 months going to Katy but if you think the assignment after that will be fairly long term it may be worth it

is gentrifying but not there yet. I would not want to live there. A lot of homeless people and general ruffians

Midtown or Upper Kirby...
Midtown has lots of bums and drug addicts but you can walk to anything you need.

Agreed.. this, or the Heights
At least while commuting to Katy, you’ll be going ‘against’ traffic- though commuting around Houston is never fun... And the best part is that you wont have to move, you can stay in the same place in the Inner Loop (Midtown, Heights, Upper Kirby) and commute to Pasadena.. again, not fun but against traffic... you DONT want to be 25 and single, and live anywhere near Pasadena or Katy.

It will suck for Katy but will be roughly 30 minutes door to door depending on when you head out for Pasadena.

All of this

Yeah, housing and commuting costs will be going up for you. Hopefully increase in pay will cover that for you.
How long will you be in Pasadena - will this be your new "permanent" location?
I'm a little confused by people saying the drive from say the Heights would be "terrible" to Katy. You are going against traffic.

Yeah you’ll pay more to be In the Loop but the quality of life will be immeasurably better than in the burbs, plus you’ll have the peace of mind of being able to sign a one year lease knowing you wont have to move.. you may actually save money doing it this way, since short term, 6 month leases usually cost a couple hundred more bucks per month.

Memorial park/rice military
Heights
Midtown
Downtown
Eado.
The drive to Katy in the morning and back is not bad bc you are going against traffic.
Then drive to Pasadena is not bad. Maybe 30 mins.
Don’t move to the burbs! The reason most ppl hate Houston is bc they are young and single and live way the f out there where families live.

I'd estimate to be in Pasadena for 1-2 years.

Yes I would imagine this is the case. Going by everyone's responses the daily commuting is worth the trade off for living by people more socially aligned with you.

DO NOT move from place to place. I live in Katy and would not want to be 25 here. 25 year olds here are going to Community colleges or have kids and are looking for a new baby’s daddy.
Pasadena and the entirety of the SE Houston area is abysmal.

Move inside the loop, At 25 you don’t want to live in Katy or Pasadena

Short term lease in Katy while you work there and then move to the Clear Lake area when you start work in Bayport
Eta- do not move to Pasadena, Deer Park, or LaPorte
