House in our price range with what we want pops up on the market yesterday (Monday) at 5pm. We look at 12:15pm today (Tuesday). Make offer for asking price, I pay closing at 12:45pm today(Tuesday). Essentially exactly what they’re asking for, right? Obviously not. They will get back with me Thursday afternoon, deciding to continue to show.

Is this shite really that wild right now? What’s the point of listing price, if you don’t want to sell when that’s offered? Just auction everything off. Seems that’s how it’s going anyways.

Sorry guys, been pissed off since this afternoon when I found that out.
End rant.

UPDATE:
Despite everybody saying I didn’t have a chance, I got the call today that my offer was accepted. Several offered asking, several offered asking with some type of closing cost stipulation, but my straight asking price offer was the first like it, and I got it.

Yes. They’re continuing to show because they’ll likely get above asking.

Obviously. But what’s the point of even listing the shite with a price then? Just take bids.

Would rather not draw anymore attention than it’s already getting

Seems like they have multiple offers at asking price, and they think/will get above asking price? What housing market? This is important! I bought in October last year and was able to get 12k off, but i bought in a cooler market.

So they priced the house competitively to get more interest, possibly creating a bidding war that may benefit them financially?

What a bunch of assholes.

Shoulda put a time frame on that bid baw then you wouldnt be waiting.

Also, if your bid is still tops Thursday then you way overpaid

They are setting the floor for the offers.

Call me defeatist, but i just cant imagine anyone who isnt a multi-multi millionaire even trying to get into the housing market right now.. I’ve actually felt this way for at least the last six months.. we all know a bubble burst (or at least a severe correction) is coming, not if but when .

I did. Told them I’d like an answer by 8pm today. They came back with “we’re going to wait until Thursday to make a decision”.
I’ve written it off, just frustrated.

I’ll keep hunting and find something that works, not a huge deal

Now you can say you empathize with college football coaches in the NIL and transfer era.

I’ve been doing this for a couple of months man. Trust me, I get it at this point. Doesn’t make it any less frustrating to deal with

The set the price to generate interest. It’s likely they had at least a few showings and waiting for the best offer. It’s a seller’s market.

Something is definitely coming down the road, how bad is the question. I just can’t wrap my mind around some of the sell prices that are happening for average homes with little to hardly any property and I live in BFE compared to a lot of the people on here.

I agree with you. I’ve pretty much abandoned the hope for home ownership in 18 months. It’s not going to happen. Hell, I can’t afford it.

I’ll be apartment trash for a while longer…
