In the case of the Catholic church cover up the root of the problem was individuals working together as a whole to hide it.

Correct. Most organizations that work with kids have had to deal with this. Boy Scouts, youth athletic groups, etc. etc. This isn't just a Catholic problem.

True, but it’s a bigger problem in the Catholic Church than any other institution known, and many of you are still making bullshite excuses, defending the church, minimizing the devastation of thousands of children’s lives, and acting like it’s all in the past, while the Pope continues the coverup and bullshite.

My problem with all these priests has to do with how the church just moved priests around like moving deck chairs on the sinking Titanic. They also sent some priests for treatment instead of calling the police.
It also seems that a majority of the priests seemed to have served at 3 churches: Holy Family in Morgan City, Sacred Heart in Cut Off, and Annunziata in Houma.
Another observation from old new stories about the arrest and conviction of Robert Melancon and Patrick Kujawa, was that the church or people connected with the church had deep pockets.
Melancon was released after his arrest on a one million dollar cash bond. They provided a cashiers check for this amount and his attorney was able to get the court to not cash it unless he broke bail.
Patrick Kujawa was able to get his congregation to cover his 100k bond. Another note about Patrick Kujawa was that he was arrested a second time when he was found with child porn again which is why he is still in jail. His first sentence was a just a suspended sentence. One site said that he is scheduled for release in 2022.

In the '60s and 70s, this was what psychologists recommended.

We're the biggest religious organisation on the planet. .5% of priests being deviants is going to be more than most organisations combined.

Could you explain how a church that sees extra-marital sex as a sin is at fault when people commit extra-marital sex?

and acting like it’s all in the past
Well, 99.9% of cases have been from decades ago, and most of the accused are long dead.

1. Extra-marital sex and rape are not the same thing
2. This church IS at fault because of the cover-up scandel. It's not just the acts of rape by individuals.

What did the police recommend?

This thread lists 14 known abusers in one diocese. Do you really think it’s only half of one percent? How many in that same diocese were abusers, but didn’t get caught?

Sure, as soon as you explain how a good Catholic could possibly describe raping children as extra-marital sex. Here’s a hint for the Catholic challenged: one is a sin, the other is a sickening crime that destroys lives.

Except for the ones that are happening right now. You don’t think the almighty church’s shitty response really got them all, do you?

This explains some of the problems occurring today.

The Prophecies of Our Lady of Good Success occurred over 400 years ago.
quote:
Our Lady of Good Success, Quito, Ecuador to Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres, 1500s
"Unbridled passions will give way to a total corruption of customs because Satan will reign, targeting the children in particular to insure general corruption."
“Unhappy, the children of those times! The devil will do his utmost to destroy Catholic schools by means of persons in authority."
“The sacrament of Matrimony, which symbolizes the union of Christ with the Church, will be thoroughly attacked and profaned. They will implement iniquitous laws aimed at extinguishing this sacrament. They will make it easy for all to live in sin, thus multiplying the birth of illegitimate children without the Church’s blessing….
“The devil will work to persecute the ministers of the Lord in every way, working with baneful cunning to destroy the spirit of their vocation and corrupting many. Those who will thus scandalize the Christian flock will bring upon all priests the hatred of bad Christians and the enemies of the One, Holy, Roman Catholic, and Apostolic Church. This apparent triumph of Satan will cause enormous suffering to the good pastors of the Church.
“Unhappy times will come wherein those who should fearlessly defend the rights of the Church will instead, blinded despite the light, give their hand to the Church’s enemies and do their bidding. But when [evil] seems triumphant and when authority abuses its power, committing all manner of injustice and oppressing the weak, their ruin shall be near. They will fall and crash to the ground."
“At the end of the nineteenth century and throughout a great part of the twentieth, many heresies will be propagated in these lands.…
“In those times the atmosphere will be saturated with the spirit of impurity which, like a filthy sea, will engulf the streets and public places with incredible license.… Innocence will scarcely be found in children, or modesty in women.
“He who should speak seasonably will remain silent."
“There shall be scarcely any virgin souls in the world. The delicate flower of virginity will seek refuge in the cloisters.…Without virginity, fire from heaven will be needed to purify these lands.…"
“Sects, having permeated all social classes, will find ways of introducing themselves into the very heart of homes to corrupt the innocence of children. The children’s hearts will be dainty morsels to regale the devil.…
“Religious communities will remain to sustain the Church and work with courage for the salvation of souls.… The secular clergy will fall far short of what is expected of them because they will not pursue their sacred duty. Losing the divine compass, they will stray from the way of priestly ministry mapped out for them by God and will become devoted to money, seeking it too earnestly.
“Pray constantly, implore tirelessly, and weep bitter tears in the seclusion of your heart, beseeching the Eucharistic Heart of my most holy Son to take pity on His ministers and to end as soon as possible these unhappy times by sending to His Church the Prelate who shall restore the spirit of her priests.”

Data through 2009 put it at over 4 percent, and climbing with some Diocese already at 10% of priests, and that's just those that got caught.

Sad reality is probably what is known is just the tip of the iceberg. The cover up here is just as bad as the crimes. No excuse other than unbridled power by an institution to do as it pleased in our society.

I was wondering about Father Danny as well. He ate dinner at my grandparent's house once a week for years. There were always 10 or 15 kids around. I can't imagine this being true.
Father Prinz on the other hand... I remember when those allegations came out in the late 80s, and I remember him being yanked out of St. Gregory and being defrocked.

I was married by one of the priests
My wife passed away last year so I cannot ask her this question
Since the priest got thrown out the church does it mean I was never really married?
