According to OP, she rents a home in Hoover, so she may just live in the district after all.

It doesn't matter if she rented five houses in Hoover. You have to live permanently in the residence to be counted in the district. They followed them home to gather enough evidence that they lived in another city.

I doubt the kid would be in virtual school right now if they could prove they lived in district. They said their goal is to return to the system.

The answer seems to be no, but the article wasn't clear.

an active federal desegregation order

a little off topic but I live in an area subject to the above. the schools have gone from de facto segregated to integrated and now back to defacto segregated. unintended consequences are a thing.

Just wait until Bush gets it's own high school. Southeastern WP, south of Bogalusa, is gonna explode. I foresee that anyway once this highway is done.

Yeah I'm wondering what the reason was to ask her to draw her house on a map.

There has to be someone/agency who can investigate to see if a rule, law, etc is being abused.

Which agency would a government agency use to investigate? Is there one? If so, did they not follow the protocol?

If there isn’t one, then they must do it themselves.

If you don’t think the school district should be the one to investigate, then petition your government to mandate protocols.

Agree with this.

If she was a perfect student, caused no issues, etc., Scruffy doubts they would care.

Nah. Hoover has multiple HS and middle schools. The taxes are HIGH. They have a very stringent zoning policy. This woman got caught and is mad. It is even more stringent if you are an athlete.

Wish they'd do this at Dutchtown HS. The district demographics are nowhere close to the student demographic. IMO, there are many kids using fake addresses.

quote:

Economic Status: Approximately 53% of students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

There's no way the Dutchtown area has 53% needing free/reduced lunches.

quote:

In Louisiana, students qualify for reduced-price school meals if their household income is between 130% and 185% of the federal poverty level, or if they participate in programs like SNAP, TANF, or FDPIR.

They do it here in Ascension. I know some that live in BR and drive the kids to Ascension in the Dutchtown area. It’s bs.

That number was 87% at the school I recently retired from after 30 years. I didn’t see that figure every, single year, but I did probably 20 of the 30 years. It was never below 80%.

Hoovah thinks they are Atlanta when it suits them. Trying to annex/take in whatever they can when they can by the smallest sliver.

For some reason, I thought lunch was universally free. It is in our district. Every kid gets breakfast and lunch for free. You only have to pay for extras like popsicles.

I know a retired coach who's basically a private detective for the LHSAA. He verifies that kids live in the attendance zone they say they do.
