California never lets science get in the way of good ol behavior restrictions.
It's a proxy for ideology at this point. Or folks who have been scared sufficiently. Now, if I see an older person who is moving slowly and wearing a mask in public in 2025, I give that person a pass. Might be chemo. Might have a suppressed immune system. Might have latent TB. I hate to tell them that, "You need a N95 - that tissue paper isn't doing shite", so I don't and I just give them a pass.
Everybody else, I assume that's a proxy for a, "I vote Blue!" pin.

Explain the following to me...
Hearing impaired people being exempt from wearing a mask because they need to see the mouth to communicate.... Wouldn't it make better sense that ever AROUND the hearing impaired be exempt? Deaf people don't need to see their OWN mouths...??
