Here in Texas people have firearms. I don't honk.

After a visit to Chicago earlier this year, I would say the trigger time there is a microsecond after the light turns green.

Can confirm. Chicagoans are very impatient.

I'll honk from three cars back. These frickers with nowhere to be piss me off. I'm as patient as I can force myself to be with the elderly/disabled, but if it just looks like someone fricking off on their phone they're getting honked at quickly.

If they don't go when the light turns green give it about a 3 count and give a quick & friendly little toot to get their attention. If they still don't go after that I lay on it.

In the days before texts I never honked

Now you must honk immediately. If not you may get behind a person that could sit thru 3 lights

I usually give the person between 5 and 10 seconds before flashing my lights. I rarely honk the horn.

I think that's exceedingly generous.

I don't have a problem with a little wake up honk if I'm not paying attention. But honking at me after 0.1s will net you at least one more light cycle. I'm generally not an arse, but out-assing an arse is one of life's greatest pleasures.

How quick are you on the trigger when another driver ahead of you is slow to respond to a green light or traffic moving? I usually give the person between 5 and 10 seconds before flashing my lights. I rarely honk the horn. According to Atlanta driving standards I appear to be a total beta cuck when it comes to this since most of them lay on the horn instantly.

Hardly ever, it isn't an emergency.

Polluting our airs with loud, obnoxious noise when it is not necessary should be a fineable offense.
When I got my drivers license as a teenager in Memphis it WAS illegal to blow the horn unless an actual emergency situation. If I remember correctly, fine up to $500.

Of course it wasn't enforced though.

Millennials seem not to like horns and flashing high beams. I was shocked to learn many here think flashing high beams to get a car in the left top move over is aggressive.

It is illegal in some states but there is no way that could be enforced. Impatience isn't an emergency.

I always watch the light for crossing traffic, so I can start laying on the horn when it turn yellow.

Immediately if its one of those short lights that only let 2 or 3 cars through.

My wait time varies by context like this. I’ll give up to 3 or 4 seconds but, during the morning commute out of Dutchtown, you’re getting a quick pop if you don’t move right away.

They get two seconds to go before I shoot out their back windshield. That really gets them moving; better than the horn.
