That’s what happens when you build a loop.

Manhattan's only true rival as for as skylines go.

That top photo appears pre-1970's though.

Naw that’s what happens when the government only lets you use a small fraction of the available land.

I really think it blows it out of the water. Just the way it’s so mountainous and layered. It is the world’s most vertical city, and some smaller buildings actually stand taller than their biggest skyscrapers due to being built on the mountain side.

EDIT: And for those of you downvoting, New York is still the greatest city the world has ever known. The Chinese just overcompensate and make miraculous skyscrapers. New York is more authentic and subtle, while Hong Kong is merely mankind’s memorial to Capitalism.

Look at what a Loop did to Shanghai!

The Loop has allowed them to progress far beyond plastic mardi gras beads IMHO!

Shanghai is also great. Incredibly clean for such a massive city.

This is the first I've heard of someone calling anything New York subtle.

Shanghai certainly has potential to be the class of the world class cities, but its smog problem makes Mexico City seem like San Diego.

What I find most fascinating about Hong Kong is that they're one of the few places that want to be re colonized under the British. Look at these protests against the PRC. It's called the umbrella movement.
