This is solid advice. Id go with one planned event (a show, double decker bus, or cruise) on the day you arrive, enjoy a meal, then mostly stick with short adventures near your hotel.
ETA. The natural history museum is overrated. The Metropolitan Museum underrated.

Go the the 9/11 museum and the observatory/top of one world trade. I would do the top of one world trade over the empire state building or top of the rock.
A sailboat tour in the hudson is fun.
Very good Italian restaruant named Frank in the east village. Its a hole in the wall and very small but the food is fantastic. They only take cash as of the last time I was there a few years ago.
Nothing really exciting in Times Square but its cool to see if you've never been.

It sounds like you want a solid plan, but one of the few great things about NYC is how walkable it is. If your hotel overlooks southern Central Park you can walk to the MoMA (5th floor is best), Times Square, NY Public Library, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, etc. There is so much to do in that area. You can just walk around and take it all in.

I'd forget the driver unless you just really want to bounce around a ton of places quickly.
Uber Black is fine.
I'd just make reservations at a cool restaurant/ bar like Raf's or Monkey Bar and relax the schedule a bit.

1. Don't think you can do it all, NY is not doable in a day or even four days.
2. Take a double decker bus to see the big things. There is probably a stop near your hotel.
3. Concierge will be your best friend here.

Try lunch at Ellen's Stardust Diner. Aspiring Broadway actors make up the wait staff and they sing Broadway songs throughout the diner. Food was ok, but you aren't exactly going there for the food.

Pound that arse, frick while you can. Soon you'll have a house and kids, she'll be too tired.

If I was in Manhattan for one night, the last place I would go to would be Times Square.

For one day, just take a slow walk around Central Park. Walk down to Times Square. Find a good restaurant along the way for your evening meal, then go to the Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Center) for a view of the city. Find a nice bar for a nightcap and stroll back to your hotel.
relax, because you're not going to experience much in a single day.

Here are my thoughts:
1. don't hire a car. waste of money and may get stuck in traffic. either uber, walk, or ride the subway.
2. for sightseeing: Times Square at night, World Trade observation deck, 9/11 memorial fountains, Highline, the vessal and hudson yards, also look at city light sailboat ride LINK
3. restaurants: Japanese - Nobu Downtown or Sugarfish if like Jap but don't need sushi; Steak - Peter Lugar or Strip House; Italian - Loconda Verde or Elio's (Upper East); Spanish - Salinas
4. secret speakeasy: the ice cream shop ( LINK, the Garrett; Please Don't Tell ( LINK
5. other bars: the dead rabbit ( LINK); Russian Vodka Room
6. Outdoor bars: frying pan; PJ Clark in battery park to see yachts and finance bros; if adventurous check out the William Wall LINK
ETA; if you want to break the bank then do the tasting menu at Daniel. Be prepared to be there for three hours

Assuming you aren’t fats, just walking Broadway from Central Park down to The Battery is a great way to take in the city and do people watching.
Also: comedy shows.

It is one of the few items of substance in NYC.
Times Square is just a thing, nothing life remembering. Central Park is cool to visit, but it is just a park still. Traveling out to Statue of Liberty is time consuming. Going to top of Empire State Building could be done in lieu of 9/11. If I had one day there though, I would go see the 9/11 memorial.

What if that one day was the 1st night of your honeymoon? I've been to the memorial and the museum. For me, that kind of activity would put a damper on the trip. Maybe not for you or OP. I just know I wouldn't be in the mood to PIIHB after that, which is the point of a honeymoon.

Make sure you get a classic New York slice

Why fly into NYC for a half of a day? You'll be incredibly limited on things to do considering the time it takes to get anywhere. It seems like a big expense for very little.
I'd move Bermuda back a day (give yourself 1.5 days in NYC), or otherwise go to NYC on the back end.
