By what I read on the board, I would say don't even worry about the curfew. Just go with your life as planned, don't get into anything stupid and you will be good.

So the cops can have probable cause without actual probable cause.

Remember a couple weeks ago when the fine people of North Baton Rouge were screaming about how many cops lived outside of the Parish?

Well, they were correct.

Many of these first responders including EMS, Fire, Police, and Sheriff's department have lost their homes. Events like this stretch departments thin on resources.

With a reduced workforce, a curfew (however unpopular) is an easier way to manage the workload.

Are people being stopped and arrested for driving for work or necessities?

If the workforce is so thin, why are EBRSO deputies working extra duty jobs within BR City Limits?

Because extra duty jobs are what keep their families off of welfare.

Maybe my business degree is failing me but if you have a workforce shortage and there are deputies that have enough time to pull extra duty shifts for private business, perhaps the shortage is exaggerated? And those deputies should be pulling extra shifts for the department before any private enterprise.

The curfew will never end. People will say it's ok, but it will be used to pull people over for no reason. See, good plan by LE to divest you of your rights.

private enterprise $$ > extra shifts(comp time)

Stand in the Albertson's for $35hr or work N. Acadian for a day off you'll never get to cash in?

hint: you already know how they feel about you on N. Acaidian.

I think you missed the point. The deputy should only be available for extra duty when the department's resources are as such to provide available staff to support extra duty requests.

We have both strayed from the topic. I hate curfews, but I think with fewer people on the streets it helps manage the trouble areas.

Certainly, you must agree that this Summer has taken a toll on out LE community.

Our entire community has suffered in some way. Do bitch and moan about reduced services from cops, cable tv, phone, and trash collection services is a waste of time and effort. Show some compassion.

The loss of life has been very low so far. That is a blessing for which I'll gladly endure these inconveniences.

Take care, Baw. It's my bedtime.

Nah. If services are that dire then the curfew wouldn't have been shortened and deputies wouldn't be working extra duty.

Agreed. And they have a thankless job. On that note, officers from around the country showed up to help when resources were depleted and assisted in patrols. Where are they now?

You can be compassionate for the community while still expecting better out of your elected leaders and their respect for the constitution.
