Honest question - has this situation shifted more power & responsibility to the states?

Has this whole Covid thing shifted things from the feds to the states a bit? Or has it at least demonstrated that the states have always had more power and responsibility than is generally perceived?
Putting aside for a moment, whether you agree or disagree with the policies and procedures of the the current officeholders at either level, do you think a shift is happening?
If so, is it a good thing in the long run? Would it be better if power is shifted to even lower levels - Parish/County or City/Town levels?

The power was always there, the populace hasn't been as soy-pussified to accept it until now.

I’ve been hoping with trump that people would see the value in shifting power away from the feds. However, while it seems logical for states to want the power back politicians rather just shift blame.
Like republicans with Obama, democrats bitch and moan about trump being basically a dictator but once their guy is in office they will fall in line

No. States have always acted in their best interests, with the federal government providing support and some guidance. States taking more of a lead because the federal government failed in their response isn't a good thing. There are powers and abilities the federal government have that states do not.

I probably should have put in another option - would it be better if there was less power to all levels of govt. and more back straight to the people.

Except this issue is best handled at the state and local level, not federal. Why should NYC have the same response as Ames, Iowa?

States have always had the power & responsibility, but have been & more than ever are dependent upon the Fed. States & cities will be looking for the dollars for there bailout.

I'd say that states are seeing an increase in power and responsibility out of necessity.
I love the idea of a functioning federal government that can provide support to the states and oversee bigger picture issues in the meantime. Unfortunately, our federal government is a bloated, incompetent, corrupt institution that's done little more than slow an urgent matter down as much as possible by acting like bickering children who will try to take their ball and go home.
I'm listening to very little of what the federal government is suggesting at this time. I'm watching my governor's press conferences, trying to keep track of what's going on at city hall, following local ordinances, and occasionally seeing if the mayor says anything of importance. I've written off the COVID task force as a farce.
I am not advocating against a federal government. I'm advocating against the mess we have right now.

Trump giving the power to the states to make their own decisions is right in line with what the founders had envisioned. I love it but I hate it because the general population are morons and voted these same state idiots into power.

The converse is also true. There are powers the states have that the feds do not (10th Amendment).
9 times out of 10 the Feds need to threaten funding to get the states to fall in line. The 10th time involves distorting whatever is left of the Commerce Clause after 230 years of being bludgeoned to death.
In an emergency situation there's not time to play that game. The correct powers for emergency situations like this all lies with the states.
