Honda Civic vs Toyota Corolla: which is better compact vehicle

When my wife’s car craps out in the near future I wanted to get her a civic or corolla. I know they are both the best compact vehicles that last forever. Also, do all the new cars have cvt transmissions now? I hope not because I never heard nothing positive about them.

Corolla?
Both are the same basically. Will last a long time so see what which she likes driving best.

Do you think manufactures have been going to them because they haven't been working well?

I have a 2009 Sentra with CVT transmission. Never had a problem with it.

I guess I’m nervous because Nissan always had cvt problems but I wasnt sure about other vehicles. We always been Honda owners but I always heard great things about the Corolla.

Never had a problem with either Civic I’ve owned.

Civic. On year two with 53,000 Miles and it’s a great car, comfortable ride and gets 43 mpg (all highway). And it also looks better.

Toyota just debuted the 2020 Corolla Hybrid (arrives 2019) at the LA Autoshow and will get 50mpg+. Something to consider if you are considering both cars.

Honda CVTs don’t seem to have problems like Nissan did (does?).

I have owned both. Civic is the better car. Better mileage and looks so much better. Corolla is so outdated.

Can't go wrong with either.
Civic looks better.

A few years ago, I would have said Corolla, but ever since switching body styles a few years back, those toyotas are ugly as sin. The Civic's aren't bad looking, so I'm going with the civic.

I have a Honda Pilot (2013) and this is the only thing I don't like about it. I'm hoping that this isn't standard in all cars because I told my husband if it's still in the Hondas I won't buy another one if I have options. Nothing is "wrong" with it per se but I feel like it "jerks" when it changes over (or whatever you call it). I can feel it and don't like it.
