Homeschool options

Up until recently my wife (no pics) and I had the opinion that, “We went to public school and turned out just fine.” Now I am ready to homeschool my kids (3 boys). I work 24hrs on/48 hrs off(firefighter) and wife works 4–10 hr days(nurse). Is this doable and if so how? Wife thinks it can’t be done.
Disclaimer: I’ve always been somewhat “anti homeschool” bc those kids always turned out weird but i feel we can combat that with our current social life.

Your kids will still be weird

If you live in BR, move to the suburbs and send them to public school.
Home schooled kids are weird.

Send them to military school

can you take 'advantage' of virtual learning this year?

seems easily doable
might not be a traditional schedule, but most homeschooled kids are only doing like 2-4 hours of school per day anyways

I homeschool my kid but I outsource her actual learning to an online school called Excel.

Homeschooling is very conducive to scheduling around travel ball.

Always is quite a strong word. Some home school kids are weird. Some kids who go to school are also weird.

"homeschool kids are weird" says all the people who have been forced to homeschool their kids for the past year.

I guess the only issue would be if both your wife and you were working on the same day and your kids are not old enough to be left alone?

In Louisiana you can home school your children, and still have the option to send them to a public school for PE.
Since 2 years of PE is required for a high school diploma, they are required to accept them, which entitles them to play middle/high school sports.

He had no idea what it was. I was completely baffled, he's a guy in late 30s/early 40s. Turns out he was homeschooled and this gift to mankind was never passed down to him. His notebooks growing up were completely devoid of "S" doodles.

University View Academy has an excellent virtual school. Couple that with at-home instruction and you’ll provide a good education.
You will miss the social aspect of school though

Obviously the “homeschool kids are always weird” is not 100% accurate but if a homeschool kid is not socially awkward then they are clearly and exception to the rule. These days there are more options for those kids to get involved in a lot of social activities. We live in the country a long way from any major city but are active in church and our group of friends travel together and have kids the same age.

I don’t blame you OP. Public schools are increasingly becoming breeding grounds for critical race theory.

These people raise your children.
You may not have a choice.
But you cannot play surprised when your kids become trained to loathe you.

Just make sure the teacher isn't banging the students like they do in regular schools...

Only home schooled kid I knew growing up talked to trees.
I had a classmate that would talk like Pikachu non-stop.
To me both were at the same level of weird.

Wife and I homeschooled all 3 children, and big sacrifices were made, like one income! It took a toll financially, but our children turned out fine. Oldest graduated from LSU, other 2 have been working full time since graduating. And, they’re tremendous support groups in Louisiana, like I said, it is a commitment. GL OP.
