Just because you find it reasonable does not make it so.

No. You’re assuming that’s theres absolutely no legitimate roadblocks for someone who has been rendered homeless to “just move” or “find a job”. Especially a job that pays for housing that is steadily increasing while wages have remained stagnant for decades. That’s just ignorance.

Women’s shelter
Section 8
Medicaid
SNAP Benefits
Free school breakfast / lunch
Free school uniforms
Free / reduced cost cell phone & internet

There are jobs out there, there are programs out there

There are roadblocks, it’s called life
I don’t make the same amount of money I did 5 years ago
Guess what? I cut back on needless spending & didn’t get another pet even though I wanted it

At some point it boils down to personal responsibility. There are programs in place to help those that need help but the issue is these kids are suffering because the adults in their life don’t give 2 shits about them.

Well yea, you can't because you'd have to admit that you advocate for killing people. The brain is functioning already. Sure he can't survive yet, but he's already functioning like a person.

He can't eat, he can't drink, he can't breathe, he can't form thoughts or memories. He is not functioning like a person, he's functioning like a fetus, so he's got the kicking thing down.

It kind of horrifies me that you added the "any time soon" to the end of that.

First link that came up from googling "opiod crisis" "In the late 1990s, pharmaceutical companies reassured the medical community that patients would not become addicted to opioid pain relievers and healthcare providers began to prescribe them at greater rates. Increased prescription of opioid medications led to widespread misuse of both prescription and non-prescription opioids before it became clear that these medications could indeed be highly addictive."

I didn't see anything in that link saying the majority of opioid users were people who started by being prescribed by a doctor. I did see that 40% of deaths were related to prescription pills, but I would wager a good bit over 50% of those people never had a legit doctor prescribe it to them

Percentage of children born to unwed mothers has gone up significantly since 2005. That boosts the homeless children numbers

Millions of undocumented illegals heading to California where they refuse to permit more housing. I bet over half of that increase is in Cali alone.

Having kids out of wedlock and or being terribly poor and choosing to move to the highest cost state in the Union will create some life issues.

nd no, I wouldn't consider a fetus 19 weeks along "alive" in a functional sense. It would not survive on its own.
neither can a 1 year old or a 2 year old or a 3 year old or a 4 year old and so on. but they are alive right?

By "survive" I meant something along the lines of "be able to sit outside of a womb for a few minutes and still have a heartbeat" but I can get on board if we're just being obtuse for fun here.

Weren't Adam and Eve only a year old at one point? They survived!

You're right, folks are letting their emotions get in the way of facts and logic, this is a lost cause.

What are the stipulations around this? If we are talking medical viability, that is ever changing. So, does your opinion of what is alive and not alive constantly change with the scientific advancements in childcare?

So I guess someone on life support isn't a person to you. Neat.

No. But no surprise you have to qualify your answer. I think you know that your stance is impossible to keep, which is why you can't ever just simply answer yes or no.

Just admit that abortion is killing a person. I'm not trying to take that right away from anyone. I just want those people to be honest about what they're doing.

Because a person on life support can range from having their breathing aided to someone brain dead. I'm sorry you see faults in needing to qualify statements but this is not at all a black and white issue.

Again, not ending a life. Preventing a life. A person on life support lived a life and was a person with thoughts, feelings, and memories. A fetus has quite literally experienced nothing as far as it is aware. It has not existed in its own mind because that mind does not yet exist.

It is. A person on life support can't do any of that stuff you listed as necessary for being a person. You're just mad that your logic can't hold up to this basic scrutiny. It's why you were A-Ok with modifying your stance on 3rd trimester abortions when I called you on that as well.

Nope. That life has already started. Human functions are happening. There is no scientific argument you can make to say they aren't. Abortion ends that. Quit being a bitch and just own what you're advocating for.
quote:

that mind does not yet exist

I'm looking at a developed brain on the 19 week ultrasound pic that would beg to differ.

And here's just a little bit of reading
quote:

Embryological development shows presence of pain sensory mechanisms and neurophysiology. The basic anatomical organization of the human nervous system is established by 6 weeks .[1] The earliest neurons in the cortical brain (the part responsible for thinking, memory, and other higher functions) are established starting at 6 weeks .[2] Nerve synapses for spinal reflex are in place by 10 weeks .[3] Sensory receptors for pain (nociception) develop first around the mouth at 7 weeks , and are present throughout the skin and mucosal surfaces by 20 weeks .[4] Connections between the spinal cord and the thalamus (which functions in pain perception in fetuses as well as in adults[5]) are relatively complete by 20 weeks .[6]

In contradiction of the claim that the brain cortex is necessary to experience pain and suffering, decordate individuals as well as animals lacking higher cortical structures obviously do feel pain. In fact, the human brain cortex does not fully mature until approximately 25 years of age, yet infants, children, and teenagers obviously can experience pain.[7]

Fetal reactions provide evidence of pain response. The unborn baby reacts to noxious stimuli with avoidance reactions and stress responses. As early as 8 weeks the baby exhibits reflex movement during invasive procedures.[8] There is extensive evidence of a hormonal stress response by unborn babies as early as 18 weeks [9] including “increases in cortisol, beta-endorphin, and decreases in the pulsatility index of the fetal middle cerebral artery.”[10] Two independent studies in 2006 used brain scans of the sensory part of unborn babies’ brains, showing response to pain.[11] They found a “clear cortical response” and concluded there was “the potential for both higher-level pain processing and pain-induced plasticity in the human brain from a very early age.”

Say we are talking about a premature birth here. If the doctors are able to keep the child alive in which it otherwise wouldn't have survived, are they saving its life or actually giving it life?
