Please point me towards the magical haven of affordable housing that they should move to, let's not even get into the logistics of someone in poverty actually attempting to move

It's not hard to find a job, you're right. It's the issue of finding a job that'll pay enough to afford things that are required to exist, such as housing, that makes things a little tougher

I agree, but "don't have sex" doesn't exactly have the best record for contraception, and once someone is pregnant you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. In fact I'd argue that legalized and subsidized abortions would dramatically lower crime and homelessness rates.

People also like to argue against welfare and tax benefits for people having kids with reckless abandon. I'm with you there. Maybe it's time to steer the economic incentive towards not reproducing. I'm not going to argue anyone's opinions regarding the morality of abortion, but it is a fact there would be tremendously fewer homeless people if they weren't born in the first place.

who has more? If I pay $5,000 in federal taxes on a $50,000 salary, and jeff bezos paid $5,500 in federal taxes on a $10,000,000 salary, would that be fare in your eyes since he did technically pay more?

He is a little special. He tried to call me out for claiming the U.S. was second on the list, saying I can't just assume they are 2nd because they are listed second.

Completely failing the comprehend that they are listed in descending order by the amount spent per child.

THEN you said bezos pays $500 more in federal taxes then someone who makes 50k.

it was a hypothetical, do you know what that is?

I was trying (hopelessly really) to make literally anyone in this thread understand the concept of expenditures relative to GDP

it's not important enough to go into further detail tbh

the auburn guy almost blew his load when I misread his comment a couple posts back, and has now gone completely berserk screaming at me about it. I fear for those around him at this time, gotta assume he's absolutely screaming at his monitor, hooting and hollering, etc etc

there are plenty of famileis that have lived and dug their way out of poverty having these same struggles. they just had to now what they could afford and what they couldnt. So dont act like there is no one that has over come these.

I’m posting entitled BS because I expect ADULTS to act like ADULTS, be responsible & take care of their kids or don’t have them.

Got it

No. You’re assuming that’s theres absolutely no legitimate roadblocks for someone who has been rendered homeless to “just move” or “find a job”. Especially a job that pays for housing that is steadily increasing while wages have remained stagnant for decades.

That’s just ignorance.

That's probably ow you felt posting that chart that you clearly didn't comprehend. Gotta give you props for sticking here and still being condescending after that.

Ironically, every business I see has “now hiring” signs up. I employ 22 part time employees. I can tell you without any hesitation that only about 5 of them WANT to work.

I'm sure there are a number of families capable of doing it themselves. The highest level of homeless US student population in more than a decade suggests it's still a problem for many, though!

First link that came up from googling "opiod crisis"

"In the late 1990s, pharmaceutical companies reassured the medical community that patients would not become addicted to opioid pain relievers and healthcare providers began to prescribe them at greater rates.
Increased prescription of opioid medications led to widespread misuse of both prescription and non-prescription opioids before it became clear that these medications could indeed be highly addictive."

Correct. These aren't very effective during pregnancy.

so you want to legalize murder to fix all the issues?

Murder is when you kill someone who was previously alive. Abortion is preventing the life entirely.

Let's revisit your statement, why don't we:

quote:

the fact that you think we rank second overall because we are listed second from the top is a really great manifestation of the problems we've had with properly educating our populace, tbh

so over 20 years ago... give me number today that most the addicts are normal people following doctors orders and not junkies.

oh no after all this, this thread is just going to turn into yet ANOTHER abortion debate?

this forum sucks now, I'd rather go to one of the obese people threads and argue to meet up and fight over chikfila vs popeyes than do abortion debate volume #4082349272384

Are you merely a heartbeat? Do you not have sentience? Do you not breathe air? What life did you experience before birth?

Great non answer. I guess that's the only way you can cope with your support of killing babies.

ETA: And my wife is 19 weeks pregnant. My son in there has been kicking for weeks and responds to our voices. Any argument you try to make that he isn't a living being yet is frankly stupid.
