We went to homeschool during COVID and never went back. Kids are doing great and we keep them in sports for socialization. They were bored and not learning much in public school to begin with so homeschooling challenges them like we want. It's not for everyone because it sucks to relearn algebra or sentence structure to keep your kinds on track but in the end they will be well educated and much better than their peers when it comes time for college.
Maybe, but theyll lack what their peers won't and that's the knowledge a kid learns from independence growing up apart from mom and dad 24/7

maybe spending 10 years neck deep in homeschool culture makes me able to make a snap judgment that most people aren't homeschooling so they can diddle their kids and make them scrub their toilets and churn their butter.
Just because your situation works doesn’t mean it applies to the majority.
And you call yourself educated.

I think kids will be ok either way if their parents care about what they're doing.
Exactly. Parents heavily involved and interested in their kids’ education will have well-educated children regardless of whether they’re enrolled in private school, public school or homeschooled.

They're late to the party...we've been doing that since 2007 when my oldest first started school. Both he and my second-oldest scored very well on their ACT and are in college with my oldest graduating this spring. Don't regret the decision to homeschool for one minute.

Yeah, go figure. People don't want to be forced by the state to cut their kids' dicks off because some 3rd grade teacher said they were really chicks.

I’ve been of the belief for awhile now that intelligence is mostly genetic. Whether homeschool, private, or public the cream will mostly rise to the top.
However with homeschool and private you don’t really have to worry about your kids being pressured into gender ideology nonsense by teachers and social workers.

I didn’t call myself educated. I’m a product of the Louisiana public school system.

socially among a group of peers.
Yeah,
And that's the problem, when people look at the weirdos and degenerates running and attending public schools they don't see peers to socialize with they see miscreants to avoid.

Yeah it's not great just the best alternative to weirdos

Many parents/kids enjoyed this many years ago. They didn't have 2 hours of homework everyday and they learned on their pace. Traveling during school was a great way to get away and not have crowds. Usually my kids were 3 plus years ahead of the grade they would have been in public schools. This was done by taking the standardized test with public schools. They encouraged you to do this. By high school we were able to put them into public school system and have a better handle on the craziness. Going into 9th grade they were able to be part of sports and activities. You could still participate in sports if you were home schooled by going into your school district. My kids had zero issues with socialization bc they were part of many sports and other things. Worked out well for us as they are grown and all have college degrees.

Yeah but eventually there will an effort to ban home schooling (for the children) because educators “know what’s best.”
They won’t give up their roles of indoctrination easily.

Just some food for thought why homeschooling is so popular
1. Curriculums are readily available and relatively cheap and do a great job preparing for HS and or college.
2. Efficiency especially for younger grades. You can get schooling accomplished in half the time bc schooling is much more one on one
3. There are lots of homeschool communities in most areas. Many options for get togethers and hybrid options that help with the socialization
4. Flexibility. You can go at your own pace.
5. Spouse homeschooling teacher in lieu of working to send kids to private school is financially a good investment.

My buddy's wife decided to home school and they turned their upstairs bonus room into the "classroom." They live in CO and felt that the local schools were turning too far to the Left. Painted the whole room institutional white, got her a wooden desk, got the kids desks, installed a chalkboard and put US and state flags on poles. Low bookcases with various texts on the wall. It legit looks like you walked into a classroom in a public school.
Some of our friends who tried it dedicated a room to it too and it seemed to work out well for them.
You're right about the public schools going too far with their insanity. People are fed up with it.
