Home Repair, Not Who But 'Who To Call'

Some damage has popped up on my house. I know nothing, but I know its too small for a contractor to handle. But would a handyman do, or out of his range? Trying to figure out what level of home repair to pursue. Home is 8 years old, and don't know how damage occurred. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, that's what the pics should do. Still working...

depends on what kind of damage if you a handyman or something more specialized. If your Insurance man is local go see them. Likely they will have a list of reputable guys. I would start here.

Thats small. Call a handyman. Make sure he has experience in this type of work though. Ask for references.

OP get house inspected for termites and make sure there is no leaks
Just call a roofer, get a few estimates, they’d be able to handle that easily

That's not damage. It's rot.

That’s rotted wood from termite or water damage…on a 8 year old home. Is that the only spot on the home you’re noticing it?
It’s a fairly easy fix, but the reason needs to be address or it’ll just happed again.
A handyman should be able to take care of that.
Where are you located?

Calla roofer. They have people to deal with this. And a termite inspector to make sure if it’s termites or not.

The first call would make is to a good roofing company. Unfortunately if you’re in the Baton Rouge area I have none that I would personally recommend.
ETA it looks like the water is getting in where the fascia touches the main roof. The water is following the fascia down as it slopes. At least that’s what it looks like in the picture.

That wood is completely rotted and will need to be replaced.
You need to go in the attic and see if the rot continues into there as well.

Pretty common issue. Most roofing companies can handle this.
Next time post in Home/Garden if you wish to avoid snark.
