FBI crime data. Everything peaked in the 90's.

The ability to instantly transmit information and discuss it in public forums/media around the clock is the reason for the belief that crime is worse.

For instance, in this case, you would not have found out about it until tonight on the 6 or 10pm news and would have been a 2 minute story. Followed with a report by the Advocate in tomorrow morning's paper that they have caught the killers.

Everyone would move on. Instead we have 3 news agencies breaking with live reports, updates to your mobile phone, and a 10+ page discussion on a forum related to BR activities.

Crime continues to decrease

We currently live in the most peaceful time in history

You can Google a lot more to support this or you can continue believing hyperbole and be ignorant.

The media only reports the bad shite to scare you.

Marilyn Manson said it best

quote:

Because that's not the way the media wants to take it and spin it, and turn it into fear, because then you're watching television, you're watching the news, you're being pumped full of fear, there's floods, there's AIDS, there's murder, cut to commercial, buy the Acura, buy the Colgate, if you have bad breath they're not going to talk to you, if you have pimples, the girl's not going to frick you, and it's just this campaign of fear, and consumption, and that's what I think it's all based on, the whole idea of 'keep everyone afraid, and they'll consume.'

I thought that was her...jesus...not a close friend but a friend and former client. I know her and her child were extremely close to her parents.

f this turns out to be some random act

Obviously, I don't know shite but I seriously doubt this was completely random. This has to be connected by a worker at the house or a family member. Who else would know about the safe?

I'm just now seeing this...I can't fricking believe it. I am good friends with their daughter...have been since high school. She's extremely close to her parents and recently lived with them until she purchased her house. This is terrible...this world is shite and getting worse. so fricking sad

You need to quit watching 24 hour news.

My thoughts and condolences go out to that family, but I'm also pretty positive the world has been through much dire situations and been in worse lows

The criminals were black in the very similar Gonzales case. Who knows but we'll find out soon enough.

We're talking rates. Rates are way lower. In some instances, despite the larger population, the absolute numbers are still lower than they were 25 years ago.

good fricking grief

The fact there was more crime in a time with less of a population, regardless of race, doesn't help your argument at all.

Will probably be bad either way. Definitely agree though. I'm sure they're asking a good bit for that white house and if someone can afford it they are going to have an expectation of safety.

That house is on a beautiful piece of property, but sadly it's gotten pretty dilapidated in the years it's been sitting there empty.
