Similar event actually happened to me. I was just out of college and some dude with road rage followed me to my apt complex. This was about 15 years ago and to this day I have no idea what the hell I did to piss him off. I must have cut him off and just wasn't aware of it.

I had nothing other than a set of golf clubs in my trunk. I popped the trunk, pulled out the old Odyssey putter, and just stood there. Luckily he didn't shoot me. He just stayed in his truck and turned around and left.

Putter for sure and I would snap the head off right where the shaft meets the putter head. I would hold the putter head like a pair in my right fist which would turn it into a VERY effective strike enhancer with a spike sticking out. I would hold the putter shaft in my left hand and use it as a baton, if you whipped it across someones face and hit them they would have a BAD day, and also use it to thrust at them in a stabbing motion.

A full club length would be worthless if you were in a hallway, backed against a wall or really in any area where there is a lot of stuff. With my weapons you could fight the dude anywhere in a house, even in the pantry or a closet you be good to go. Plus you don't have to be nearly as accurate.
