It was a joke. I think if you reread it, you would get it

I have lived in a neighborhood with a semi-strong HOA and one without and give me the one without any day. I could not hate HOAs, covenants and the people that actually want to police it and get off on policing it more.

I've never known an HOA to not be above and beyond municipality restrictions with regards to covenants in HOA.

Maybe so, but pretty much 100% of what he posted there is already enforced via municipal code.

If i've read and agreed to the rules within an HOA community, I'm feeling alot better about enforcement of said rules from people voted into that position vs government worker "x".

Um okay...the city government has much more depth than your HOA, but okay I understand you like wasting money on redundancies.

My HOA is pretty good so far. Part of our HOA fees pays for front yard maintenance for the entire development—so everyone’s grass is cut on Fridays.

I would be pissed about this. How would I maintain yard domination when a commercial company ruts up my yard and sucks arse at mowing?

Yeah, that's a two-way street. I wouldn't be too opposed if someone mowed my lawn, assuming they did a decent enough job. My neighbor across the street, who has invested tens of thousands into her lawn, would be absolutely livid. Her lawn looks like it should be on Augusta.

She's an older, retired hippy-ish lesbian. Are you sure?

ETA: She's really cool though, just extremely passionate about her lawn and gardening.

No parking on the driveway

This is the reason I live in a non HOA neighborhood...

I have no issues with my neighbors what so ever.. Everyone maintains their lawn and and keeps the area pretty clean.. However, most park in the driveway... Garages are for boats..

I live in an area where the houses range from 250 to 400K..

frick that communist shite...

You sound like the kind of guy that makes having an HOA worthwhile. Who gets mad about grass length requirements?

I lived in an HOA neighborhood the last 4 years... a lot of people parked in the driveway. I did since I used half the garage as a shop. There was no rule against it, that's over the top in my opinion.

There was a rule about no parking in the street for more than 24 hours consecutively.

Mine has been pretty laid back in the 5 years we've been here but they recently passed these rules:

if you are going to change the outside color of your house it must be approved by the HOAs designer

If you need to rent your house the renter must be able to pass a criminal background check

That’s already likely a municipal code violation no need for a HOA.

That’s dumb. Who is the HOA’s designer and how were they selected?

It's a 3rd party designer that was selected.

Yeah that one didn't really hurt my feelings.

There was a militant HOA in North Dallas suburb that wouldn't let a baw park his Ford F-150 in the driveway. House vary in price and go over $1 million.
