HOA Condo: Water leaking from bathroom ceiling through light fixture.

Assuming I don't die tonight of a fire, would this clearly be a case where the upstairs owners of the condo have to file on their insurance? I arrived home and heard water leaking. Assumed I didn't turn it off before heading out...came to find water leaking at good rate from my master bathroom ceiling light. I called the HOA to inform them and walked to the condo owner upstairs who said he had just finished taking a shower a little earlier and that water was stuck going down the drain so he "shimmied" the tub drain a little to help get it down.
Is this pretty clear on him or the HOA when it comes to who has to pay to fix this issue? I own my condo on the first floor. I am unsure if he owns or rents. I would assume own, but didn't ask.

Depends on what your condo docs say but usually it’s going to be on the upstairs neighbor. Most hoas only cover exterior and some common pipes.

I am really not sure what the specifics are on your HOA agreement. To be clear, do you own or rent the condo?
If you rent, then renter's insurance would be a good idea.

Didn't we do this a month or so ago with a condo in Orange Beach or some shite like that where the next door condo had a leaking water heater that caused some floor damage?

What he did is probably separate the seal from the tub. I

Plumber came in and fixed the problem. He had to access the upstairs tub by going through my drywall opening up the ceiling and making the needed changed. We let it air dry for a week to avoid moisture being trapped and will reassess Monday. After, he will patch up, sand down and repaint the affected area.
Said all the work will be a few hundred bucks. Seems like common sense the guy upstairs would be responsible to pay, huh? Honestly, he should just send the bill directly to them as opposed to me having to ask sense he fixed their tub.

Yes. It’s his plumbing issue. Had this at work and it was a cheap drain assembly in which a fitting broke from flex over time. Be thankful you don’t have concrete between floors.

Would this be the plumber's expertise or is there a different expert who handles this type of work? I aim very concerned about potential mold issues.
