The local RiteAid was out of 1" pins so purchased a stack of 1.5" pins to carry me over.

Doing an intramuscular injection in the vastus lateralis this morning and when pulling out the needle it became a blood fountain.

Now I've shot myself off and on for years, and hit vessels before but this had more horsepower behind it. I felt it going into a vessel but just pushed through the other side to not inject into the stream. My concern is this might be my first time hitting an atery. Again I didn't inject it because I felt it was in a vessel or arterial artery, so just pushed through to the other side.

Is there any need to worry?

Always do for at less a few secs for the thigh. No blood. Like I said, pushed through to the other side.

Guess my because concern is the amount of blood following the needle coming out. Was lite red and not dark red like normal when I do push through a vessel.

The hole Is so small. Hold pressure till is stops bleeding and watch for hematoma . If it was a hole the size of a pencil, it would be the same, except no using that body part for a couple days, do that if you're paranoid.

Yeah I get paranoid. It was 430 this morning before the gym and feel fine.

Hard to Google without running into a freakout thread. So just rather take shtt here and ask.

Thanks.

Vastus lateralis - outer thigh
Arterial artery - are there any arteries that aren't arterial?

You're trying way too hard

The procedure is to stick the needle in and then attempt to back the plunger a little. It you are in a vessel or vein, you will pull blood back into the needle and you should pull the needle out until you get it out of the vein. If you pull no blood, you are good to go.

Judging from your spelling, I'd say you need to seek medical attention.
