Hit your salary cap at work

Would you stay in the position? Or look for another job? I work in a f500 as an engineer. I enjoy the work but I can’t make anymore due to my tenure

Depends on how high that salary cap is and the freedoms you receive at that job.

Certainly wouldn’t work for the remainder of the year

Depends.
Do I enjoy the work?
Do I feel like I’m well compensated for what I do?
How close to retirement am I?
EDIT: I see you answered #1, I think the other two are important factors.
Also, will your salary be adjusted for cost of living or is this a no-kidding salary ceiling?

If you are not advancing, you are regressing.

Depends completely on your options.
Would I explore the options? Probably so.
Quietly.

Sounds like you aren’t in sales, meaning. Cap isn’t on commission.
Are you interested in management or just comfortable doing your own thing as an engineer? If you aren’t willing to take on a leadership roll, you can only do so much

Wait, you’ve already met your salary cap for the year….in early March?

How much $ you making? And in BR?

I been at my job for 13 years. I don’t necessarily want the added stress of managing people. But I am also 30 years from retirement

I work remotely with occasional travel. The main office is in Houston. Live in BR

I’ll hit mine in a couple of years but I have a lot of flexibility and most of my income is monthly commissions and quarterly bonuses so I’m not looking to leave for a higher base.

Well then you better be happy with your salary for the next 30 years

My guess is that his annual COL raise has him maxed out at his band or level. He either needs to become an engineering manager to get to the next grade and increased earnings, or stay where he's at being an engineer and not having to deal with direct reports.
As a person that gets burned out with the same old thing every 5-7 years, I'd be looking to get into something different that compliments my engineering background. Maybe get a project management cert?

Yes, retiring at end of year again.
Prolly start something else when the market stabilizes. It’s a habit.

I hit my salary cap. No one in my job can make more than $195,200, despite the fact that my pay grade states I *should* be getting paid $202K+. It sucks balls.

Do you like your boss and your situation? Unless you are at the top, a big consideration should always be “who is your direct manager/boss/etc”.

Sounds like you need to find a new employer

What the hell is a salary cap?
Why would you take a job that has a salary cap?
