History buffs: Interesting fact about Stalin

He was 5’5”.

In all my years of being a history guy, especially the WW2 era, I somehow never came across this.

I find that astounding.

He had statues built and paintings made of him to make himself look taller. That’s why you probably thought he was taller. He also rarely had pictures taken of him standing next to people or head to toe.

True napoleonic complex.

I have actually been to red square and it is crazy. On one side there is a big marble square building. His tomb. You walk in and a line never stops moving through. Armed guards everywhere. In a glass case his body sits there in a suit. Weird feeling in there

Of the authors of the Little Red Book, the US Constitution, the Napoleonic Codes, The Soviet Constitution of 1936, Mao Zedong is the tallest at 5'8
