That flag is a symbol of hate and violence to a degree you don't seem to understand. Once it was co opted by the Klan and white supremacists, it lost all neutrality and can't be redeemed. The fact that rational people can't comprehend this is just strange..

But why did they know better? What's wrong with using those words?
My kids didn't wear confederate shirts to school either
They were tough enough to deal with things that could have offended them however.

Why would that be an issue for you though?

You have this backward.
I raised my kids to be modest and not offended by children who aren't.

But if words and symbols aren't offensive, they shouldn't have any problem using them.

Dude no ones saying they can't be offensive
shite, everything is offensive to someone and it's getting worse.
Kids need to be taught to ignore "offensive" things rather than expecting someone to placate them

But you know what is? A public school stomping on a kid's first amendment rights.

You think this kid is about to get paid? Seriously?

South Park portrayed the face of the prophet Muhammad in one of its episodes. Once it was co-opted by blasphemers and apostates opposed to Sharia and Islam, it lost all neutrality and can't be redeemed.
Are we to ban South Park shirts now? If not, is the offense of some students worth more than others?

CBS showed the Confederate flag weekly in the 1980’s and no one complained. That was well after your ‘co-opted’ events.
The battle over the flag started when the NAACP was losing relevancy in the early 90’s and a pampered part of the American populace needed a cause.

For whatever reason, real or otherwise, the flag pisses people off. Coincidentally, the only people I know who display it in any fashion are legitimate racists.
That's anecdotal evidence, but it's enough for me.

And yet, if the school allowed them to continue to wear it and they got their asses kicked for it, they’d likely be the same kind of families that would claim the school didn’t “protect their children” and sue. That’s where the safety issue comes in.

All the down votes and sky screaming over a kid wearing a damned flag shirt. A fricking flag shirt. Some of you snowflakes act like that inanimate object is gonna get yo arse.
But the thing that really cracks me up is all you limp wristed lefties who laugh and crack jokes about a coming second civil war, then throw a got damned fit when some 14 year old wears a confederate battle flag shirt.
Why so worried kids? You've already told us that those of us who hate the direction our country is moving in won't do a damned thing.

Because you won't. And if you do, you'll lose. Hard.
