Ummmmm. A shipping container un-modified can withstand a hurricane.

I would get rid of everything else before I would consider that.

Really? You don't think hurricane winds can knock over a shipping container?

100 sq/ft is trying way too hard, but on the flip side, I'll never live in anything above 1,500 sq/ft. Too many people go fricking broke maintaining a huge house, huge utility bills, huge mortgages, only to fill it with shite they don't need.

I like the smaller home trend, and that's what I'm going to concentrate on building after graduation.

Give me a tiny house and a huge garage with land.

They should have fun finding that crane to move with every hurricane watch.

Why can't a shipping container withstand a hurricane?

It most certainly can if properly attached to a foundation... and even if it floated off or flipped over... it would still survive.

Really. I have had a few survive typhoons with no damage to container or contents. If not anchored down it might roll over.

The strength of a shipping container is far greater than that of lumber. Properly strapped, it wouldn't go anywhere.

I saw the one shot at Jackson Hole, Wy and those dumb fricks spent over $300k on that tiny shack. You could buy a new Tiffin Phaeton diesel pusher RV for that which is 3 times bigger and much nicer.

Rednecks have buried shipping containers into hills for years. It will absolutely survive a tornado.

OP, that's ridiculous. I understand if it's one or two people and you want to travel or try it, but 4 is forcing it.
