Who do you rent from??
National is basically the only rental car company I use now. I have found them very accommodating to rent from.

National with Executive aisle has been flawless for me the last several years. Absolutely zero complaints regardless of airport or city.

Someone will come up with an app that you can use to walk around a rental and record all damage on your phone before you drive off to counter this. Two can play the AI game.

This is what I use. It’s nice to see the long counter line at ORD and I just walk by, hop in a car, and drive off

Enterprise tried to con me by changing me $2500 for a long line of paint scratches that had been on the car from several renters before. Thankfully I took photos before the rental. When I talked to the manager she was like oh yeah that car was all scratched up when we got it several renters before you.
Looking online this seems to be a reoccurring issue with this company.

No different than when you trade in a vehicle that needs minor body work and they try to deduct "cost of repairs" from the trade in value. It's on the website a day later with no repairs made.
Not doubting they do this at some places...but in reputable places, doesn't that just mean it's in the system? Not necessarily available?
I know I've gone to look at a used vehicle that shows up in stock on the website, but the when I got there it was still still in the shop for body work.

Exactly.
If you rent from them, take pictures.
It is a scam that they like to pull.

Maybe so. All I can tell you was that it was Team Honda so definitely a reputable place. The vehicle had been detailed with pictures and a price tag on the website. I'm assuming it was for sale without making the repairs.
The best part about the negotiation was before bringing it in for trade in I stopped off at the Team Collision Center to get a quote on replacing the bumper. When the sales manager tried low balling me on trade in value due to repairs I asked him how much for the repairs. He gave me a high price and I told him I was confused because I got a quote from his collision center that was much lower than that. His jaw dropped as he left the room.

Just another in a long line of examples of Hertz being an absolute dogshit company.
Terrible. I’m a gold member. Because I “checked in” online, my vehicle was no longer grab and go. I had to wait in line at the airport behind 8 other disgruntled customers.
So hertz penalized me for confirming my order online. Retarded.

Seems like this is a push to get all of their customers to purchase insurance to pass that cost onto them
Except my company instructs us not to purchase the insurance. Covered under company policy when on business.

My question is does Hertz after they charge and collect payment from a customer for one these damaged areas do they actually fix that damaged area.? My guess is no and then they charge another customer for the same damage over and over again.
I don't think the second part is true. They AI scan before each rental driver takes it and after. So you have your own before and after scans. At least in my understanding.
It's still bullshite if they're charging for normal wear and tear. That is the cost of being in the rental car business.
