And here we go...

quote:

City police shot and injured a 13-year old Baltimore boy Wednesday as he fled carrying a semi-automatic pistol, FoxBaltimore reported.

The teenager was approached by the officers on Baltimore Street, east of the Inner Harbor area, around 4 p.m. after they noticed him carrying what appeared to be a semi-automatic firearm, law enforcement officers told the station.

The boy then fled “a good 150 yards and had every opportunity to drop the gun,” Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said. The officers then fired at the teen, who was later being treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

And the irony...

quote:

An event featuring Democratic Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, marking the one-year anniversary of the Freddie Gray riots, was taking place across town at the time of the incident.

Insane that a 13 year old is running from the police with a weapon.

He got shot? Sorry, can't be bothered to care at this point.

If they shot the kid in the back as he was running away then they're likely in the wrong, but.....WTF is a 13 year old doing with a gun?

A real tragedy. Our schools need to teach children at a young age that police are people too and they fear people harming them no matter their age or intentions.

Doesn't matter. He was going to be found guilty in a court of law.

I was staying at Inner Harbor a week ago in Baltimore. Sat out in the parking lot of our hotel with a couple of buddies watching the wildlife expecting to see a mugging but didn't get to because a couple of blocks away from the liquor store homies we were observing a gunfight broke out and the cops started slowly rolling that direction. I counted over thirty shots from at least three weapons.

Baltimore is JACKED THE HELL UP.

I'm sure he was just returning from a gun safety class with his dad.

Typically I'd say the cops were in the wrong if the boy was running away, but in this case they may have saved another life. A 13 year old with a gun, with no training at all, I'm guessing, is a danger to the public. Cops here neutralized the threat and they didn't even kill him, just injured him. Job well done I'd say.

I dunno. He's brandishing a firearm and running from police. I know it's riot and protest worthy but what isn't these days.
