I was never a huge fan of the Pelicans name change either.

Well the laughable nature of the name the "Pelicans" was way overblown. Mainly a national issue with it not being "cool", yet names like the "magic" was completely cool. The ridicule eventually stopped and the name is just an afterthought now. The same can't be said for any of these, they will always just be dumb and jokes of a name.

Why don't they just name it after what they are desperately trying to get across.

I always thought "The Brass" would have been better than the Pelicans. They could use that.

If the Zephyrs want to "connect" with their city more they might want to start by actually being IN their city.

Build a Downtown stadium!

Why are they changing the name? If I had to pick one of those, it would be night owls.

If they didn't have such a who cares affiliate in Miami, I think they would draw better. It's not a bad facility out there on Airline. I went to a few games last year and the year before, but that was to see them when they played the Cubs AAA team from Iowa.

At least when they were affiliated with Houston, there was a little geographic interest in the team. With Miami, really...who cares?

What would have been better would be "Jazz"! Which is maybe what they should name this baseball team as a shot at the NBA for not giving N.O. back the name that fits the location so much better than the state of Mormons.
