Only a blood test shows current impairment, which is never done.
Blood tests show that you’ve used a cannabis product, but it doesn’t show impairment. Same thing with opioids, benzodiazepines, etc.

There's a dry blood test for THC now similar to alcohol, it can tell if it's been in your system in the last 4 hours.

Blood testing link
This link shows what blood testing is. Like I said in a previous post, it doesn't even seem like the politicians even debated this issue before they legalized drug testing or THC. It's like the politicians write laws and don't do any research before they pass it. That's why the ignorance of opinions. That's frightening. It reminds me of some of the safety rules inside a chemical plant. Many of the rules make little sense, and they are so extreme that the rules begin to create there own hazards....But nobody is allowed to question the rule, because its written on paper, and the real world can't deviate from what is written on paper, even if it doesn't make sense.

You can literally get a medical marijuana card on your phone for free in fifteen minutes. And then just blaze away if that's your thing.

Are you aware of what this discussion is even about? You can't do that even with a prescription because it can show up on an employer's drug test, and can still be held against you.

Do they get randomly drug tested? Serious question.

Yep.

Nobody is "trashing your civil liberties" by not allowing you to show up and pop a drug test for weed.

Probably not. Some hospitals randomly test many patient care employees, most don’t.
But if that neurosurgeon appeared impaired (even if dead tired) or made a mistake, then he/she could certainly be tested.

Most employers don't even test for thc anymore. There's no point.

Yes they do. If you work in the plants they do. Even if you have a legal prescription in your system, like Adderall, you will get harassed. You will often get randomly drug tested over and over to see if you are abusing it, or using other substances. You always hear the same arguments to excuse their actions, such as, "employment at will," as if this excuses the violation of a person's civil liberties. It is an invasion of privacy also.
There was a time when I was conservative and actually supported drug testing on the job, but now that I have seen all of the ways that is is being misused, I can say that I was wrong. I'm beginning to hate conservatives as much as liberals, because neither support freedom. Corporations should never be allowed to do things like this without being heavily regulated; And they should never be allowed to manipulate the government or politicians with the media or any other means. I've lost confidence in the entire system. Big business has subverted the system of checks and balances. Many years ago we had a strong labor union that would stop these things, but that was destroyed by big business, and the unions do nothing today.

You realize people legally buy drugs all the time with a valid prescription and it still doesn’t make it ok for them to have it in their system at work right?
Except it does make it OK.
You aren’t getting fired for having Adderall in your system if you have a valid prescription. You aren’t getting fired for having hydrocodone in your system if you recently had a tooth extracted and had a prescription. You aren’t getting fired for having benzos in your system if you have a prescription for Valium or Ativan.
You might get fired for being impaired while at work, but that’s entirely different than simply having them “in your system” (i.e. detected on a drug screen).

Basically what happened when they legalized the .3% THC bill, they legalized it for the dealers but not the buyers. Businesses can now sell this substance legally, but people can't use it because of drug testing, which shows what you did a week ago (or months with hair follicle testing), while you were at home. Before it was legalized, both the buyer and seller were held accountable.
It's almost like this stuff wasn't even researched before the legislation was passed. This new governor has now passed a law allowing surgical castration of sex offenders. I'm frightened to see how this is going to be misused, like many other bills that gets passed. They are poorly researched, and are only passed to appeal to the rural conservative's emotions. Democrats what to cut off male genitals and turn them into females, now republicans want to cut off their genitals, and turn them into non sex. Both parties are obsessed with cutting off genitals. Today, they say it will be used on violent rapists. Tomorrow it will probably be used for 'carnal knowledge' cases.
To make it worse, we have a judge on the bench in Baton Rouge that has a son that is a serial rapist (Judge Gail Horne Ray). The current system is anything but fair and unbiased. When things get this fricked up, we can only speculate what will happen next. But this is a separate issue for a different thread.

loophole in the law
They grow and let mature to the legal limit, then cut the plant at that legal limit or below, package it, then attach the COA for legal purposes. That package can be sold according to the hemp act. With heat, and just plain time, it will convert to a THC level well above the limit. In select stores in Texas that have the fortitude to do it, this is what they sell. The other stores sell hemp covered with the vape liquid…that’s the weak stuff I see people talking about it and buy at the gas station.

BTW - I know these things because I am part of a group that owns Bayou City Hemp.
