Good stiff from OP. Our church has a program called lunches of love that we all participate in to pack lunches for kids who don't get them outside of school.

Thumbs up to you.

The same People That complain about the government giving handouts, are the ones that won’t lift a finger for a person in need.

Many on the left want to turn the government into a giant charity to take away the deductibility for us to give through charity.

I’ve done this before as well. What is the trick to correct it?

I’ve been working with Red Bean Parade and smoking pork shoulders for the dialysis clinic workers here in town. Feeding 30 or so overworked employees is very rewarding. Many probably don’t think about it but dialysis clinics are getting their arse handed to them now.

I've been 3D printing mask retainers to take the pressure off of the wearer's ears.

Some have gone to police forces, some to a couple of hospitals, some just to older at risk folks.

Coolest part is everyone has wanted to pay for them even though up front I said free. I just ask them to make a charitable donation. It might not be much, but it's what I can do.

I applaud the OP for such a large response to need. Not everyone is blessed enough to he able to help at that scale. But if everyone just helped out one person we'd all be in a better place.

Good for you!

Can't compare to that, but:

Wife (no pics) has been making masks and donating them. My son's out of work friend is a baker. He's trying to produce a daily allotment of loaves to make some money. Bought a day's worth and gave them to neighbors. Took a meal, wine and that bread to a former boss/friend who just had stroke and is now at home trying to rehab with his entire family. Bought a case of wine from a winery client of my daughter (no pics) since all their restaurant sales have dried up and had it shipped. Excessively over tip on deliveries from Shipt. Gave some hand sanitizer and a note to our garbage truck guys.

schools are not open.

Are the schools in Louisiana not still giving out lunches to kids even while closed?

The school district I teach in out here in AZ is still doing daily lunches for anyone 18 and under while we are closed and in online mode for the rest of the school year. They just have them being given out at 5-6 schools in the district rather than all of them.

And good job OP, nice to see you doing good in these troubled times.

How many people that have been affected have you actually helped?

I know it’s easy to help people of your own creed but how many times have you visited the 9th ward?

The BR Food Bank is about at the breaking point. Families that never needed a food Bank are in need now. In addition to those already receiving assistance.
Also bulk items (canned food, etc) went to grocery stores first.
Bottom line: they are very low on everything when demand is much higher.
Help those you can when you can.
