It is all dross, in the long run.

Unfortunately these days helping out your fellow man can just as easily land you in trouble than not, so it happens less and less. But there are still good people out there that care.
Good on you for helping
Years ago I was driving down the highway in a thunderstorm. Went by a car with a flat tire and 2 people sitting in it.
I came back around, went up and knocked on the window. Looked like a mother and daughter sitting there with no clue what to do. They were terrified of me, locked doors and windows up. I laughed and said pop the trunk.
I changed that tire in the rain and told them they were good to go. Guess they watched too many horror movies or something.
I didn't even get a thank you.

Nothing feels better than helping decent people that are in need of help, and you not expecting anything in return. Good job!

I'm gonna knock on her door and tell her she owes me for the belt you didn't pay for. Should be able to swindle her out of $50.

A lady who lives near my church was recently diagnosed with a heart condition. She has a vision impairment and keeps a service dog. She has a very small fenced back yard for the dog's bathroom trips but he needs exercise. I have been walking him twice a day. He is very well trained and I get exercise too.

Frick this is sooo sad man. Good for you! Good family, friends and neighbors are critical.
I’m getting older now and after seeing what is happening to my grandparents it hurts, and now I’m terrified about how I’m gunna take care of my parents when they live in two different states and I just had a kid and ready for #2. Started late but I’m really getting nervous, I was 16 when my parents were my age right now, I will still have a kid in the house when it comes time for me to start taking care of them

Yeah I have had the same thing happen to me a few years ago, I got mad and kinda quit helping ppl like my friends etc bc they were not helping me when I needed it. It made me kinda mean for a year or two and then I started helping ppl that needed little things done like car problems, lawn and house issues I am able to fix… I felt better I just don’t expect to get the help on the back end any more. Kinda sux but I do feel better and am more happy

She may honestly enjoy mowing the yard .. it could be a way for her to get out of the house.
Yes he could have finished her yard but I say kudos op for your kindness.

I did this one time 25 years ago coming home from an late night in Houston. Woman sitting in her car at a gas station at 3:00 am.
I finally talked her into popping the trunk so I could change the flat. She was terrified. I see that now abandoned gas station and remember that night all those years ago. I wonder whatever happened to her.

Another good opportunity to help is if you see an elderly person loading groceries in their car to help them load the groceries and then walk their cart back. I try to do this when I can. They’re always so appreciative of the gesture.

Typical social media response. Do you appreciate what the OP did, but choose to be negative? Have you helped anyone in such a way lately? Is is too hard to show appreciation to someone that clearly went out if his way to help a other?
