Big disagreement with someone. If I get a business gift, like a back massager, nice bottle of wine, box full of prime steaks, whatever-- I google it to see how much it costs.

His opinion is "who does that"?, as if it's some mortal sin.

After all, it's a business deal. They want my business. I want to see how bad they want it.

What says the OT?

Are they giving a gift to get your business because they lack in their business?

I don’t think it’s tacky if you secretly google it on your own. If they know you’re searching the price and judging them based how much they spent, agree, that is very tacky.

Everyone judges, whether you admit it or not. You just don’t want to share your judgment with everyone.

I never liked doing business that way. Now if after I select a vendor or provider and if they give me a box of steaks, I’m not gonna turn them down.

You base your business decisions on the price of a gift sold at Sharper Image and food?

If you’re doing anything more with the information than saying to yourself “huh” then you are insufferable.
