re: Going into 2026

If I was betting today, I'd take Vanderbilt over 6.5 wins (regular season) and Georgia over 9.5.

Vanderbilt will always play hard and I think their offensive coaching staff might be the best in the country. And the new quarterback looks lab grown and throws 65 yard passes off of one foot.

And this is the fewest question marks and the most experience that Georgia has had heading into a season since 2022. Number 8 in the Bill Connelly experience ranking index thing after being ranked 100 something last year. Also Georgia only has to leave the state 3 times and the schedule is the friendliest it's been in a few years. Georgia hasn't lost 3 regular season in 10 years, and they'd have to lose 3 games to lose the bet.

Definitely not predicting a national championship, because it's harder these days and you have to win at least 3 playoff games instead of 2 and shite happens, but this is setting up to be a vintage Kirby team and a lot of joyless murderball will be played.
Miami's economy has gone through like 3 or 4 incarnations since the Crockett and Tubbs days. Dot com boom economy. Foregeign speculative real estate economy. Finance bro economy.

You can have AC without crime and terrible neighborhoods.

It was just a random hypothetical question. Not a history lesson or commentary.

Would you rather live adjacent to the hood in Jackson in 2026 with reliable air conditioning or a safe tree-lined neighborhood in Jackson in 1938 with no air conditioning?

A strong argument could probably be made one way or the other, but I would choose the hood adjacent option.

Some of these sky-is-falling hot takes can come across as so attention starved.

CBS halftime show is brutal

Barkley works best when he has a snarky white man studio host to cue him up and interject humor. Nate Burleson is just a braindead cornball. They just resorted to doing the ESPN thing where everybody stands in front of a giant monitor and yells as loud as they can and pace back and forth and touch each other. Last night they had a game where you throw ice cream and cheese slices at a backboard. TNT studio shows are often imitated, never duplicated.

It's hard to imagine that a whole team of studio producers who do this for a living and get paid well could do this god awful poorly.

I was thinking maybe he went to some hood high school where 8th graders were dunking. But I'm pretty sure he didn't go to a hood high school, which makes it even more puzzling. How the frick is this even possible?
