Help re: "affordable" healthcare

I recently got married (sorry, no pics) and need healthcare because I moved to a different state. My last monthly premium (after applied credits) was relatively low. Now that I'm married, my premium has almost quadrupled even though the insurance is still only for me. Our combined income isn't much different than what I was making single because my wife is in graduate school. I seriously cannot afford the premiums I am offered and need insurance. Anyone else in this spot? Any help is greatly appreciated.

I didn't read any of that but Obama and Congress butt fricked our health care system, no lube, no warning.
Worst part is many of the built in triggers to make things worse haven't even happened yet.

You don't get insurance through your job?

no, my company doesn't offer it. I will be switching jobs in the next few months and they will, but for the time being it seems I'm screwed.

Bite the bullet until Trump gets in office and MAGA's all over the unaffordable care act.

Health care cost were already soaring when Obama took office. I am self employed and always saw a 15-20% increase year to year. The biggest problem w/ Obamacare is it did/does nothing to control costs. But getting rid of Obamacare won't either. To the OP, call an insurance agent and have them give you a quote. The problem w/ the Obamacare exchanges is its mostly sick people buying thru there because private open market companies won't sell to them. So the costs to the insurance companies selling on the exchange is very high....and thats passed on to the consumer. I found a policy on the open market that's better than the silver plan on the exchange and cheaper.

That's the problem for self-employed people - no group policy. If you have a pre-existing condition, it's tough to get insurance.
So, if you are an entrepreneur with a prior condition, you are basically SOL with insurance. As a small businessman with a small finance company and a kidney condition, I can't get insurance without the ACA.
So, hopefully Trmp will come up with a plan to let me buy insurance and keep my business. If not, I can't get it.

Get a short term medical plan until you get on new employers plan. It isn't ACA compliant, but if it's for two months of so, the penalty shouldn't be bad (if any).
If you're under 30, did you look into a catastrophic plan?

Can she get insurance through the university? If so, it may be worth a look to see if she can add you.

I know many in this spot. Please look into the Christian and Mormon medishare companies. Very reasonable for good coverage. I hope you find something good, best of luck!

I was in that boat before Obamacare. Have had 2 back surgeries so insurance excluded coverage for any back issue. At least I could get insurance. But Obama got rid of that BS exclusion. My individual policy is still a reasonable cost. Over the past 5 years, my policy has gone up 60%....about the same rate of increase as before Obama.

Did you have to find a new primary physician after switching to Christian Ministries?
