Help Me Reaffirm My Faith in Humanity (Warning: Depressing)

Please post any uplifting anecdotes that illustrate the goodness and decency of mankind.
Went to rescue some dogs today - mama dog tied in the sun, no food, water, shelter. She was skin and bones - 2 puppies dead and she was fighting off the buzzards.
Knocked on the door of the POS trailer to offer to buy the dogs (always plan A). Fat arse nasty high as a kite bitch opens the door. The smell from the trailer almost made me vomit. I counted at least 6 kids running around. (TV was so loud I knew they were watching Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire 10 feet from the door) She took 50$ for the dogs but only on the condition that I leave her one of the puppies - I left her the dead ones.
I have been crying all day about those kids. Called child services, might as well have been farting in the wind. I get a call about neglected dogs - problem solved. Kids... Meh...
Knowing that people live this way is one thing, but seeing it, and smelling it...

Think I'll go hug my kid.
Then I'm gonna make him read that garbled mess so that he realizes how good he has it in life.
At least his father can tell a coherent narrative.

Look on the bright side, the world is apparently ending on the 23rd.

Scruffy got to witness a mom and dad finding out that they can hold their twin babies for the first time today.
It was cool.

Managing repo houses nothing surprise me anymore. I have seen some nasty shite houses people were living in.
Also, seeing pictures from my crews in St Louis has me convinced that whole city is a shithole that would blend in with any 3rd world country.

Unfortunately this scenario is everywhere. We have devalued life at all levels to nothing, children, animals, etc.
With that said, i can't stand people who abuse animals. They are the scourge of civilization.

Insert Serenity prayer (here)
Do what you can. Don't stress about stuff beyond your control.

Do you think those kids have a chance living in those kind of situations? Unless there is another family member or mentor those kids will just repeat the cycle.

thank you for rescuing the dogs
you are a good man trying to do good things
you cannot do anything for those kids unfortunately
no amount of effort on your part will change their fate, whatever it may be

It's really a head scratcher how sometimes you see an obese meth smoker. I mean honestly how is that physically possible.

Take a pic of the dog now and show us what she looks like after you bring her back to good health.
You did a great thing today.
