I assume you have a truck. What are your current truck needs? Is it towing a boat every other weekend or something and the use of a bed?
I got rid of my towing vehicle when I moved to Houston and sold my boat. Started driving a car everyday. I now realize that if I went back to having a boat again, I'd probably buy a beater truck and stick with the nicer car. Instead of having 40k+ tied up in a truck that I don't really need, I could spend 30k on a pretty nice car I spend most of my time in, and 10k on an old truck I use a few times a month.

A few 4x4s. All are fun to drive. None are good on gas.
I really want a preowned ls460l, but we want to put a larger than normal down payment on the house we build.
Hence the commuter. 35mpg is the money saving number after insurance. Anything more is lagniappe.

You can find a 06,07 Civic with more less 100,000 miles on it for that price. They get 36 mpg on the highway
