The prices are high, but it's not Whole Foods territory and it's not THAT much more than Kroger IMO.
And if you're not terribly brand loyal there is usually a BOGO/two for
Publix is like the Nordstrom of grocery stores. It's not ground breaking and a lot of competitors have most of the same things. But it looks better, it's more organized, cleaner, the people are better, the customers are better, better lit, etc. Just more pleasant all around.

We don't have them where I live but on vacation when the choice is Publix or Wal Mart we choose Publix every time.

Sorry. Publix is not for the Poors
There are plenty of Walmarts and family dollars.

So what’s the angle here? How do y’all shop here and not spend double your food budget?
Your question was answered about 4 replies after your OP….

I'll pay a little extra to not walk around trash
And FWIW, Kroger home delivery is the absolute best. They’re delivering our groceries tomorrow, yes tomorrow the 4th of July, between 2 & 3.

didn’t get the hype and people saying it’s better than H-E-B. Don’t get me wrong it’s better than my local krogers but it’s not better than H-E-B or Festival Foods.
It’s better than H-E-B

Worth paying a little more to not have to shop with poors.

I'll go to Publix to get quality meat and produce.
But I'm not going to pay an extra $2 for a bottle of ketchup at Publix when I can save money on the exact same item at WalMart.

I have always suspected that if Rouses could get all of its operations in house instead of having to depend on AWG in Pearl River on warehousing and distribution that Rouses would be a prime target for HEB or Publix to swoop in and add to their foot print.
Publix does not seem like the type of chain to purchase another chain, they seem to specialize in building their own stores and cannibalize the market. In order for them to expand west they would need another distribution center in Mobile or south Mississippi to start pushing further west of Mobile.
Of course the elephant in the room, is does Publix or even HEB for that matter want to deal with the Louisiana government for its permits and licenses for stores, pharmacies, and lottery sales? We all know how inept those agencies can be when attracting new out of state business. But at least they don’t have to open a separate liquor store on the site to sell hard liquor like in some states.

What is? Publix?
Publix doesn't deserve to be included in the same discussion as H-E-B.
LA would be better served getting invaded from the west, not the east.

Well it's hard to beat the price of generic shite, aka Great Value

Out in NC it's Harris Teeter > Publix > Food Lion for cost and items.

They actually bought Albertsons out of Florida and closed a good amount of the stores.

Publix, in FL employs 225,000 people. They Put the heavy push/guilt trip on their employees to only shop at Publix, with no employee discount.
Their prices are high because they have extra employees on every shift to clean, straighten, bring carts back in, and carry groceries out to people's cars. They do not ask you to ring up your own groceries or do any other work there, without benefit of pay.
Publix does not pay their employees all that great, but, if they work there 20 years and take advantage of their stock program, most folks will have $1 million in Publix stock.

I know quite a bit of people that worked for Publix throughout high school/college and went back to work for them after college. Like you said they’re pretty set for retirement.

Shop the BOGO items. Use digital and paper coupons. Plan your menus around the sale items.

We don't have Publix but this is pretty much what I do. Hell, you don't even have to go inside Walmart anymore if you don't want to. It saves us hundreds per month to get most of our groceries there though.

Louisiana would be a better state if Publix came in and put the Rouses out of buisness
