Didn't break it up. Just swallowed it. What should I do?

I thought they ate insects.

It was a French-Canadian ham bone.

Pray it passes, or pay the vet $500 for them to tell you the same
If it’s in their tummy, they’ll most likely be fine.

It was a small round bone. About three inches in diameter. No sharp edges

Three inches in diameter is pretty big. I think I'd take him to the emergency vet just for peace of mind. Wouldn't want that getting stuck anywhere in the digestive tract.

Look at how dogs eat. They can swallow pretty much most things that can fit into their mouthes. Dogs throats are specifically designed to not choke

I read this as it was a bullfrog. Carry on. Hope your pup passes it.

You sure it was that big?? That roughly the width of a baseball. That’s pretty big. If he really swallowed something that big, yeah, you may want to take the blockhead to the vet.

Got out a ruler and measured what I'm pretty sure it was. One to two inches. It was smaller than most such ham bones

Monitor. As long as it wasn't splintered and sharded all up to where it will slice through intestines, it's not an immediate threat. It will either pass or become an impaction. You'll know either way, and save yourself a good bit of money by waiting and seeing. If it gets stuck in there, you'll know soon enough, then take it in during normal business hours.

My dog had two vet visits for similar things, much bigger dog though
1) 2 socks - saw him swallow them, passed one, never saw the other come out. Couple days later he started throwing up so I took him to the vet. He stayed there 2 days until he passed it. Between overnight stays, meds and IV it was about $1100
2) a rock about the size of a golf ball. Didn’t see him swallow this one so I had no idea. He was vomiting uncontrollably. Took him to emergency vet they kept him overnight until he passed it, no idea how long that rock was in him. Made for a good x-ray. That was about $960
Glad I have pet insurance because I’m getting my money’s worth. He is 11 months and I already have 3 claims lol

Man that's tough. Either check his droppings to see if he passes. Or you could give him a small amount of peroxide to induce vomiting to see if he will spit it up. I'd probably try out the mouth more of a straight shot than intestines but I'm not a vet.
Wouldn't wait more than day or two if he doesn't pass it.
