I was able to get them on a flight for early Wednesday morning instead. From what I can tell, Wed. AM. should be ok so far, correct?

Yeah, like I said, i think Wednesday afternoon and def Thursday morning is where its going to get iffy.

Trying to see if anyone has seen anything else discussed to give further ocnfirmation around convection/winds reaching MCO earlier

Supposed to be flying into destin for a 30A weekend on Thursday morning. I’m guessing best case for my plans to come to fruition would be a Tampa turn?

Yes, Picc...a turn to a more populated area, thus potentially causing much more death and destruction, would allow for you to have your girls weekend on 30A happen with potentially less weather interruptions.

Which hospital? My wife works at Sarasota Memorial Venice

That's funny, I work at the main SMH campus, what a small world.

I did not ask for your sass. Just your expertise.

TBH I asked because I’d like to just go elsewhere if needed, but making sure I am thinking the right thing.

A Tampa hit would be catastrophic. I love Tampa and the wife and I have actually talked about retiring in South Tampa or Hyde Park.

Highest wind velocities in association with Helene will be acvross North Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina on the east side of the circulation.

Winds across Southeast Alabama (places like Dothan) could gust to 40/45 mph Thursday night, but for the rest of Alabama gusts should be in the 25-30 mph range Thursday night and early Friday. (GFS map attached to this post show potential wind gusts 10 meters off the ground, not at the surface)

Tornadoes are not expected in Alabama at this point.

In addition to wind, the impacts involving storm surge, flooding, and isolated tornadoes will be on the east side of the circulation.

The Central Gulf Coast (Gulf Shores to Panama City Beach) is on the good, west side of the circulation center with an offshore flow. The main concern is from around Carrabelle to Cedar Key on the coast. But wind and storm surge issues are likely down to Tampa Bay as well.

As always, understand this could change, so watch for updates!

You sound like a delightful person. Let’s wish destruction on one of the most densely populated portion of the state so your travel plans don’t get interrupted. But figuring that you are going to 30A and having to tell everyone about it already spotlights what type of person you are. Enjoy your trip.

That's about what I looked like when I got off the lawnmower about an hour ago. Damn, we're dry and dusty here.
