Both this place and place in Texas look legit.
I realize it sounds like a weird idea, but my kid already makes me stop at construction sites (the one off Bluebonnet and Burbank has been the best lately) and I just figured if anyone knew if that could be turned into a birthday party, it would be on here.

There's a Caterpillar museum down the hill from Cat headquarters in Peoria. You can watch a movie in the bed of a 797 and sit in machine cabs and run virtual excavators/dozers and stuff.
