Does anyone have any experience with a certain brand or store in the Baton Rouge area? My mom needs new ones and I have little experience with them.

We saw Dr Stockstill at the Emerge center for my son’s hearing aids. They also see adults. You probably know this already but hearing aids aren’t cheap!

Yea, the one quote I have was $5-7k so I was going to shop a little. I was thinking Emerge was either LSU or State funded. Is it basically a store?

All those nights in the DJ booth finally caught up to you?

ACL Hearing and Balance on Goodwood Blvd. It’s where I go for mine.

They have audiologists on staff that sell and program them. It’s not a store, per se, but they have a variety of options available.

Check Costco or Sams, rebranded name brand hearing aids for about $2K instead of $5K. Same ones.

Minus the audiologist on staff, I'm guessing.

She can elect to have non-invasive surgery which is permanent and prevents her from having to charge her electronic hearing aids.

Most hearing aid stores like Beltone may have 1 audiologist for 2 dozen locations.
Non-audiologist salesmen "fitters" are who you are most likely dealing with, and they just have an audiologist on staff to rubberstamp via fax or email.
Hearing aid stores are the next Blockbuster Video

I'm not sure, I didn't buy mine there because it turns out I qualified for them via my job, but I did go to an audiologist, and had my hearing tested at Costco prior to getting mine, and both had the same recommendation FWIW.
If having to pay, I would get my numbers from an audiologist, then go to Sams/Costco, get a test, and get my hearing aids from them if I were paying out of pocket.

OK....so I was totally against the idea of getting them My mindset was MAYBE I would wear one...and then only sparingly. After consults with the audiologist, I tried ReSound's top of the line digital hearing aides.
Admittedly, they added to my quality of life and I wear them both about 10 hours a day. They are not cheap ....about $ 6,000 a pair and the blue tooth feature eats up batteries ( change approx every 3 days)
But am I happy with them? YES
Do they help? YES

What brand do you prefer?
Mine are Phonak. They are appropriate for the hearing loss that I have. I have had mine for probably over 10 years, and they still work fine. Hearing aids have come a long way since then, so you really should see the audiologist. The one I see is Cathy Messina. She is very good and very nice.
