Edwards was hitting on my mother

From what I'm told, Edwards hit on just about every doctor's wife in South Louisiana. He sure tried hard on the ones in Evangeline Parish.

LOL, got a downvote. Must be from one of Edwin's illegitimate kids.

Good or bad, Edwards is probably The second best " politician" in the history of Louisiana. And that is no small feat, considering Huey.

Just a few of his many many quips :
quote:

" During a gubernatorial debate in 1983, Treen asked Edwards, "How come you talk out of both sides of your mouth?" Edwards instantly responded, "So people like you with only half a brain can understand me."

quote:

Edwards said of Duke that "the only thing we have in common is that we both have been wizards beneath the sheets." He also feigned concern for Duke's health due to smoke inhalation "because he's around so many burning crosses"[

I heard a story many years ago and have never been able to verify its legitimacy. As the story I was told goes a young ewe just into his political career was having a somewhat secret relationship with an under age girl in the Jennings, lake Arthur area. As the story goes her dad found out about it and put a end to it. Supposedly he owned some car dealerships and had another lady call ewe to meet her at a motel, when ewe showed up 3 of his mechanics were there and beat the shite out of ewe. Beat him so bad he had to be taken to the hospital and he was taken to orange Texas and admitted under another name. Has anyone else heard this story, if so is there in truth to it or how accurate is this story.

I've seen that story posted here before but maybe it was by you.

I've heard that story before. No idea if true.

What I KNOW is true is that EWE loved his younger women. My mother was helping hostess a private function for him and his cronies in New Roads when I was a kid. Dad had just dropped Mom off, about two miles from our house at the Ox Bow when the phone rang and she told me to "Have your father turn around and get me the HELL out of HERE."

She apparently got offended at the arse-load of chicks bussed in for the private party. Years later she would tell me it was their AGES she was offended at. They were probably 18, huh?

Pops said (years later, after Mom passed on) that when he picked her up, she was in tears because EWE felt up her booty and made a lewd comment. He said, "I just laughed and said, 'Honey, if you were in a room with Eddie and he DIDN'T make a pass, I'd be offended."

Oh yeah,

About EWE knowing about the coke...I had always heard he wasn't into drugs in any way. Pussy, money, booz was his game...i also heard that when he found out what Barry was flying into BTR, he put a stop to it quick, fast and in a hurry...much to the delight of the a-hole gov in Arkansas.

Edwards was a newly elected congressman, the car dealership was Meaux Pontiac in Crowley LA, the owner was George Meaux, it was his daughter Penny. Edwards had already been hitting on George Meaux's secretary, he got her to call Edwards and set up the meet. Several of my relatives lived in the area at the time, knew the Meauxs, and one of the mechanics. Oddly enough Penny Meaux married Edwin's brother Marion many years later.

Never heard that. That's crazy.

Per FB stalk she was quite an attractive woman even in 2010/2011.

This.

Marion told me, referring to Penny: "that woman made me a millionaire."

Me, taking the bait: "I'd say she's a keeper."

Marion: "well when I met her, I was a MULTI-millionaire."

I attended a wedding reception at Cafe Vermillionville for Charles Boustany's daughter. I noticed an elderly gentleman wearing a seersucker suit w hat and cane accompanied by a woman half his age.

I leaned over to the president of my bank of choice and said get a load of that, and he looks familiar. Bank president replies, you do know who that is, right? I said I can't quite place him. He says Marion Edwards.

I thought about that a second and said, you know that's a good thing, Boustany's a good guy extending an invite to the old regime. He looked at me incredulously. He said, you do realize Boustany married Marion Edwards daughter, right?

And thus goes the story of LA politics.........

Watch the 60 Minutes interview with EWE from the late 70s/ early 80s. Pretty sure he is at the craps table answering questions.

Boustany's wife is the former Bridget Edwards and she is the daughter of Nolan Edwards, not Marion. Nolan was EWE's other brother that was shot and killed in 1983 at his Crowley insurance co office.
