For a related but possibly even crazier read check out Max Mermelstein. He was originally given the contract on Seal by the cartel but allegedly delayed because he didn't want to do it and was arrested before it reached a head. Pun.

Several years ago before I moved from BR to LV I met a gentleman who had just moved to the BR area from LV where he had been a "Whale wrangler" for a large Vegas Casino for many years
One of the "Whales" to which this gentleman was regularly assigned was EWE.
Among the many interesting tidbits I gleaned from this wrangler were:
EWE always wanted the largest private jet available to pick him up and transport him to Vegas and then home or to EWE's next stop . Hmmmmm?!
Another anecdote was that if EWE was ahead at the end of his visit he would take cash in a briefcase with him when he left the casino
If, however, EWE owed the casino(s) money for losses at then of Edwin's stay the casino would send a bill to ExxonMobil who then covered Edwin losses!
Is this a great country we live in or what?!?!

It's paved.
Listed as a private airport on an FAA sectional map.
It's a known visual waypoint so it's visible from the air.

True on the backwards stuff, there was also a homeless guy who cut himself with a bottle and rolled down the courthouse steps headfirst in support of Edwards.... My Dad was actually a defendant on trial with him, so here is a funny story from the trial.
They brought in some poor sucker who delivered the money that Edwin had lost on a recent gambling trip to Vegas by way of a suitcase. The prosecutor, John Voltz, who is dead now, was trying to say Edwin used State money to pay his gambling debts...so, so stupid. So, when this poor kid gets done testifying he is walking past Edwin and Edwards says out loud..."Hey...kid, I want my suitcase back". My Mother almost fainted..I busted out laughing, as did the rest of the courtroom. there were many of those moments over both trials...
I was getting hell at LSU for having a Father on trial with Edwin..guess it didn't matter which side you were on...
