My daughters are in healthcare. One is a therapist in a behavioral therapy for special needs kids. In Louisiana, if a child is diagnosed with an issue, they are automatically given Medicaid, regardless whether parents have insurance, and must use it.
This is incorrect. The behavioral therapy company I run specializes in ABA for kids with Autism. Most of my family are on medicaid, but I have 10% who have private insurance only. I have one in particular who is struggling to get on the medicaid waiver as it provides respite and other services, but cannot as she makes too much....they are solidly middle class imo fwiw

I had no insurance one time and a $32,000 bill. I asked for the cash price and it was $9,000.
I paid $3,000 to leave and the rest in monthly payments.
I still think Healthcare is a scam.
I do medical tourism now. See a PCP in the states, go to Mexico for my Cardiologist and for testing.

Poor people? - tax payers pick up the bill(Medicaid/Medicare)
Sick and Disabled? - tax payers pick up the bill(Medicare/Disability)
Have 6 kids from 6 different dads? - tax payers pick up the bill(Medicaid)
Old people? - tax payers pick up the bill(Medicare)
Working tax payers? - yeah, we're going to need you to pay for all of that and ALSO pay "insurance premiums" in to a rigged for profit middle man that will make you pay part of your care out of pocket depending on (checks notes) who knows...we make it up as we go...
Keep telling me how Medicare for all is terrible but somehow everyone else out there gets by on it but we keep paying the tab. The only people not benefitting from Medicare/Medicaid are the people actually paying for it.

I think I was told Medicaid. That it becomes the primary insurance automatically.

medicare/advantage once you get list price billed for more than 4000 dollars of drugs, you get into the donut hole, where you pay the full list price.
Eliquis before the donut hole is 60$month billed to patient, Once in the donut hole, patient cost is 600$month. Progresso Mexico pharmacy, about 90 minutes drive south has the exact same drug for 30$month.
The street bars , music and ambiance is a major plus

Because I have a brain and understand that centralized control of a finite resource always ends with greater disparity [in outcomes].
There will be winners...people who don't pay and reap untold benefits...and the rest of us who do pay and see a decline in overall care will be losers.
The populations where it thrives are static and homogenous. We have neither. The tax increases alone to make it viable or even revenue neutral would stifle our economy. You'd also have unmitigated tax increases every 3-5 years just to keep the program afloat. That doesn't even touch how quality of care would dwindle.
You don't want this. You think you do but you don't.

United health is the most evil corporation in the world
Only one of the most evil. Big corporations own the biggest insurance companies and they only care about the bottom line: profit.
If it’s profitable then they are in. Lose a penny and they are out. Doesn’t matter any other than profit/loss, only the financial. They may be about to solve some world wide issues, loss of a dollar means no treatment for the infected hangnail that leads to their death.
Life’s a bitch, make it YOUR bitch.

Interesting. That’s exactly what she does. Maybe I misunderstood her, but feel like she told me exactly that. When I told her that was insane, she told me at least they are getting their children some help, she loves her kids. My other daughter is in physical rehab, but isn’t on the billing end, but has mentioned how Medicaid and other insurance really messes up things.

This does work. Got a bill for $300k? Send $10 a month until you die.
This definitely works. Also, eventually it’s too expensive to keep collecting and the hospital will write off the balance.

Because my health care is far superior to government health care.
